Jumping exploit ... further comment

Kalvan,

Thank you for the reply. I am rewriting this new comment to continue the discussion on the exploit of "speed jumping" off of the back bluff into the rear of a castle in siege, thereby bypassing the need to take down gates. I understand the need to obtain the type of evidence you describe to punish the players who do this, but the difficulty of obtaining this video has the effect of legitimizing the practice. Why not just block the openings in the back wall of the castles so that the exploit will no longer work? Why not do something like changing the geography of the back area that provides the launch point for the exploit? This exploit can change the whole concept and execution of siege. I look forward to further comments of you and others regarding this exploit. I also would welcome any advice on how to defend against if there is a way.

"This is a recognized exploit and is not allowed.

Having said that, the only possible resolution is that you have the actual exploit captured in a video that you can post to YouTube or another media sharing website, and then provide the link to the video in a complaint ticket sent to our Support.

Otherwise, I have edited your message to remove the name of the alleged offending guild and will be closing this thread.

It is really not difficult to get some speed boosters and jump off the mountain in the back into the enemys castle, especially when their castle walls are upgraded(which somehow works out to them being lower=?).

The fact is, the castle walls need to be fixed, not all these nickel and dime "fixes" to prevent players from getting around them.

It's the same with the inner walls as well. You can very easily jump from the academy (assuming its inside) onto their inner castle and cap the crystal or destroy flamers/electrics people place inside.
I think you can do it with the Library as well, but its a little more difficult.

I doubt kalvan has ever been in a siege where this has happened, if they have....they would never close a thread about it.

Camagic, the fact is the players need to be fixed also, if we just shrug off this behavior like always then it will become the normal "taboo" strat of siege, fot were at one point...now they are almost a moot point due to being able to detect one of the 3 gates being fot'd. Either way, IMO if you get fot'd, it's your fault...coming off the castle top you can check all 3 gates in about 3 seconds. You're almost typing it in a funny sense, I don't think it's funny and I hope it happens to your guild soon enough.

Having all your procs destroyed by someone jumping over a castle wall has defense. I'm almost willing to bet these guys did not even use the terrain to get in, I think they might of just used fly hacks or something along those lines.

It's funny that the more that people have put into their guild, the more vulnerable they are to the riffraff. Guilds that earned their rubies should be reimbursed and the mountains behind the castle need to be removed.

The only real defense against it is either an absurd amount of defenses in a corner or you have a player standing guard there. And that is flat out ridiculous. It is like saying "If you don't want your house to burn down, station a fireman inside it". They removed the water in the middle towers because that was gamebreaking but upgraded walls? Did really need to put a handicap access ramp and door to the bank vault for the ethically challenged?
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Actually they removed the water from the middle of the map for one main reason - to stop fly-hacking. Apparently it basically surrounds you in water, making the game think your swimming and hence you can fly through mid air. They removed the water and added code that detects swimming, so any character that enters a 'swimming' state within siege just gets insta killed or 'Sniper Bunnied'.

This is also why those that claim a guild fly-hacked over their walls to take down procs etc is now false, the only way to get in is by jumping over the back of the castle wall or using r/wd and glitching gates sideways.

The old methods still work, you don't have to fly over gates, you can simply walk through them. They didn't fix some of the fundamental flaws of RoM.

I figured the water removal was just for lag reasons. Aside from the fly hack and if it is still possible or not there's a no-fall thing that lets people climb over pretty much anything and I'm guessing the walls would be no exception.
