Armor Crafting Dead?

I ask only because no new posts in nearly a month. I know armor crafting is actice on Osha just because of purify rune prices. I'm a level 30 armor crafter wondering if there are any benefits right now to this skill.

With the recent changes, if you can gather enough mats to make about 100 of any given regular recipe, you should end up with a couple high durability blue items. That is definatly worth it

Ehh...AC is dead even on Osha because I play there. High dura crafted items take forever to sell and by the time you sell it, the AH fees eat up any profit you make. Even if I post it for double the npc price(which is not much), the items get returned to mailbox. Lyk set gives stamina and set bonus which crafted items cannot compare with. Lvl 50+ players are looking for 51+ armor since it plusses higher. Why is there even such a profession called Armor Crafting right now?

So anyone can get an armor set made by collecting the items better than the best armor a maxed Armor Crafter can make?

It's true that past lvl 50 there's much better stuff in the game than anything you can make. Stuff in the 30s and 40s should sell though, maybe even 20s but most people blow through their 20s pretty quick and don't need to worry about gear yet.

Not everyone can afford to upgrade their gear to the extent they need to be able to get the drops for the Lyk set, so those people may like what you can make.

That said, I don't see AC as a way to make money, or any other profession for that matter. An alchemist making Hero potions may pull in some decent $$, but by the time they get to that level it may not be worth it for most people.

If/When they add 51+ recipes to the game, that may change, we'll just have to see.

For me it wasn't so much about the money (hate to see the prices to cover all the extra time you spend gathering to level a craft) but just wanting to make cool useful stuff. At least there seems to be on going improvements to crafting in the game.

Quite frankly the craft has nothing to appeal any use. The armor that gets sought after ingame is overdura clean, or instance drops for stats and/or set bonuses. Armorcrafting has nothing that appeals to players. If and when we're ever able to farm for the 55 purple crafted sets, THEN armor crafting will probably boom since all but cloth is crafted with this profession, but then again it's all 17-25 recipes which are vendor buyable so there really won't be a demand for Master Armorcrafter anyway.

Games like this are often afraid to make crafted gear equivalent to dropped gear. What I don't understand is why they can't split the difference and make the highest-end crafted gear require rare, dropped items. Think Moa but apply that logic to purple 50+ crafted gear. I even like the random component that means you won't always get the best possible item, but once in a while, if you are willing to risk the other outcomes, you can get something that's as good as anything dropped in the game.

Would this be such a bad thing?

Two ideas I can think of. A) make a higher armor craft skill give better bonuses (ie. better chance of slots, turn that base Sta V into a Sta VI-VIII); and B) Customizable recipes (pick the skin, stats, and bonuses and let the game calculate what kind of materials it will cost. Maybe even let players design their own sets.) That would really bring back the trade, right?

Armor Crafting is simply a waste imo. With the changes being made to the armor gotten from instances the crafted armor is completely outdated. There currently is no benefit from making mid to even high level blue armors when the blue and purple armors from instances give HP bonus. I thought for a while that because you could make an epic it would improve this but sadly its not the case.

yup the crafting system (esp "the crafts" not food/buffs) completely suck.

here is my feedback...
