I'd say yes and no.

Crafting in general is not really worth it in terms of time and money but if you like it, then it's a cool addition to the game.

at lower level, if you keep you blacksmithing close to your real level, you might produce some over dura (those with the +20% in green) equipment that will help you.

At higher level, drops will do it for ya and honestly so at this point you craft more for fun. Note that at some point (+/- level 30), levelling become incredibly long and require tons of raw material (It seems it'll take me about 600 wood unit to level my carpentry at level 35).

I have to ad that sometimes, when I craft overdura stuff with good stat, since it's always unbound I manage to sell them for a healthy price in the AH making a 30k to 50k profit but it's fairly rare.

finally if you really want to invest yourself in crafting apparently making potion and/or food (which both give buffs and/or boost) is more usefull on a daily basis at end game (but my inventory is always close to full so I'd rather not lol)

Blacksmithing can make you some very good bank ... if you do it smart.

Not much of what you can make will sell, generally avoid crafting anything other than whites, whites have a chance to create Green or Blue, a high dura version of either can sell well enough to put on the AH.

Generally however, I stick to shields. They sell VERY well to vendors, so much so that @ 56 I'm still crafting a 47 shield since I can buy all the matterials off the AH, and still make $ just by vendoring 100's of them. If I create an especially good one it goes on the AH for a reasonable price and sells pretty well.

That said, post 47 the shields available all cost MORE to make, thus I'm stuck crafting 3000 shields for a single level. The good news is it's free $ while I go AFK for a while.

Yeah shields pretty much paid the last few levels to 60.
What I'd like to know, if someone would, the crafting "chests" you get recpies for (I believe I saw a few in the Tempest Height instance), are these a one-time crafted item you create and can then craft rare items as long as it's in your inventory or are they consumables where you have to create one per crafted item?

I sure hope the former.
