Shield price broken at lvl 53?

Okay I've been crafting shields from lvl 7-47 and it only cost me less than 184 gold to craft, and manage to sell for some gold in return. But now I've reached lvl 53 and now crafting Shield of Splendor, but the price to craft is 3,677 gold!!! and the sell back price is 3,409!!.

Not only do I loss gold from crafting this, but the price of the frost rune spent to craft this!

If you haven't yet realised the devs dont much care for crafters, hence the yellow V's on 60 crafted items. Not to mention that maybe the passives on the 60's would get better if you crafted an orange or brown item, same goes for any crafted item with passives on them.

I see no problem with removing the "money-printing" part of blacksmithing. (craft, vend, craft, vend...blue OD! to the AH! craft, vend, craft, vend...). I mean, I can't take stacks of Potions of Holy Power to the vendor and get back more than it cost to make it.

Though when the crafting cost is that high, it not only exceeds the sell-back, but the input cost as well. Which is kinda silly.

Yeah, i see where that stinks. How much money does one make doing craft/vend anyway?

For armor, all pieces sell back at usually a 5% profit over the cost to make. So a 2000 gold cost to make item will sell for about 2100 gold. Which is technically a loss when you count the production stone and mats needed to make the item. That also doesn't count the gold you spent on the white recipe.

You can usually sell the later (level 30+) clean over-dura pieces for a decent profit, but overall probably works out to break even at best.

I craft in the hope that one day the system will work, but that probably won't happen until RoM figures out a way to make $$ off of it.

Hey, I know this is kind of an old thread, but I just hit the level 53 shield surprise that the OP was talking about. Does anybody know if the price to craft shields goes back down to levels similar to previous shields after level 53?

And in response to Sharinganuser, it's not GOOD money, per se, but if you have a way of constantly making materials (pet processing, guild gathering in large quantities) and a steady flow of frost runes, it can be a steady and predictable gold flow without a ton of effort. If you're pet processing, the cost of materials exceeds the profit on your shield until you surpass shields made with copper.

Even though its a bit old I'll post the answer incase someone else stumbles upon this looking for the answer.

After lvl 53 shield recipe there is a lvl 56 shield that also sells for a lost, then theres the lvl 60 blood barrier(purple recipe)

With the fast approaching Chapter 4 there might be some additional white recipes added since we will be getting new materials(herbs/ores/woods) to the game.
