how to know what crafts are worthwhile?

I'm a casual player (I play for fun, no money, and too pass time so don't flame me about not being elite), but this crafting system from what I've been reading is not very well thought out.

I remember seeing, or reading, at one point you can only 1 have skill at a very high level? But you can have all skills up to a certain lower level? Of course, I wouldn't have known this if I didn't read these forums one day. However, something still eludes me...

Is there anywhere to see what kinds of things I could make. I'm currently dabbling with a k/r or r/k to become a tank. I tanked in WoW for about 4-5 years. But in that game, there were all the sites that laid out skills so you could see something beneficial to your class/role.

As for making the k/r,r/k I would like to know how things like armor/black-smithing applies, or if it's worthless what else would compensate?

Crafting is a side thing you can do when you are not questing.
What you choose to craft is depended on what you are wanting to make for yourself.
Do not choose the craft skill based on what sells good, choose it based on if you can use it.
Foodstuff and potions benefits all classes.
If you make some that you do not need, give it over to others in your guild, to friends, auctions it, or sell it.

If you go to Runes database, you can find the recipes available based on craft and level.

that might help. (slightly outdated though)

Generally they are huge goldsinks, and not recommended to look into until you have the time/gold to spare.
