Question - Gaining Harvesting Levels

I have limited experience with harvesting ore, wood and herbs, and after reading up on forums, I have a major concern:

Question Summary : Do the points required to gain levels in the harvesting skills go up as levels are gained?

For example: I got up to level 25 in the 3 harvesting skills a couple years ago during Chapter 2.

Getting to level 20 happens very quickly, and seems to require harvesting perhaps 600-800 total of each product (ore, wood, herb). However, once that level is achieved, it seems as if the number of points gained from harvesting drops to super low percentages.

Based on this, I am guessing it will require at least 3-4k of each product to reach the next tier (40), and 10-12k for the next tier (60).

Am I correct in this? And if there is a rundown on just this kind of info someplace on the forums or via the database or wiki sites, could someone please share the URL? Thanks very much :)

As far as I was able to tell, your crafting level and the level of the item you're trying to craft play vital rolls in how exp is determined. I saw that by harvesting the material that was closest to my level, i stayed in about the same EXP range till mid 30, thats when i noticed a pretty significant jump.

Also be careful with what skills you chose to level up, you can only have so many skills in the various tiers.

Anyways....The reason I ask is that I have determined that it APPEARS that harvesting 600-800 of each mat type (ore, wood, herb), of each level (Ash wood at level 1, Flame Dust at level 5? etc..) is sufficient. This equals 300-400 refined mats, and it's enough to have on hand for quests, Elite skills, and moving up the early levels of the crafting skills. This seems to work for the first 2, and maybe 3 sets of mats up to about harvest level 23-25.

The issue I see is that once you get to say, the level where you can harvest copper, crystal, redwood, (level 25'ish) those mats only give you about 1.5 %, which implies that a massive amount of this set, as well as the next bunch of higher level mats, will need to be harvested to get to level 40.

Could a high level harvester chime in here and verify what I'm afraid of? LOL.

in the early 50's for my harvesting skills, the % will continue to drop (I believe I currently earn 0.42% per harvested material) I really don't want to know how bad this gets at 60+

So I was right. then.

Even IF your harvesting mats proper to your harvesting level, each higher tier gives you a much lower percentage for each harvest. Which requires a much larger amount of harvesting as each level is gained.

Level 20 Ore (as an example) can be gained by harvesting approx. 600 mats (I think it's less, but I wasn't paying that close of attention.) Which implies that a number like 4,500 is needed to reach level 40, and 12,500 to reach level 60. I'm sure these higher level numbers are lower then they should be. Maybe I should look into that harvesting Pet I've read about, heh.

Use Old Beg quests in CoO for elites. Much easier then collecting mats and items from previous chapters.

Even if you opt to use pet for harvest *much longer process* you still have to rise toons ability to process those materials.

Uhm. Would you mind writing out the actual quest name there, as well as it's zone. I have no idea what your talking about, but will look it up once I have something more robust to use as search terms.

Yepppers, I know that. I just can't see myself having the time to harvest that much single handedly, hehe.

As a level 72 woodcutter, I can tell you that while gathering the Janost Cypress Wood (level 69 req) by using a Collection Potion to get from 68 to 69 I was getting 0.25% per piece. Now that I'm over level 69 and only have that wood to try to chase level 80 with, I'm getting 0.21% per piece. I'm sure it will drop again once I hit 73 and only get worse from there.
