Whats the point, of tailoring now?

So a while back when the max lvl was 67 tailoring was actually usefull because we could make hero capes and the gaurdian gear which was pretty good for the other players so we could at least make some of our gold back after having to purchase literally thousands of materials...but now the 250 shells capes/pants are flooding the market and is roughly as good if not better than anything a lvl 70 tailor can make:confused:.this makes no sence it takes 2 days with about 2hours of work to get 250 shells and it takes weeks and millions of gold to become a high level tailor, as I spent countless hours and at least 1 billion gold on mats to get my tailoring up, and now its completely and utterly useless..I have no idea what the programmers are thinking in this game because they literally are ruining the game 1 patch at a time. Thank god a new game is coming out in Q1 of 2012 ( and has REAL programmers) because i can't wait to get out of this game.

i would take the lvl 70 cloth pants over the shell ones, they offer stam as a ghost stat where as the shell ones are wisdom.
Halibela - P/S/K (70/54/53)
Midknighteyes - W/R (65/70)
Osha - Brotherhood

the mats would cost me 3x -4x the price of the current 250 shells gear minimum + i would want to make some gold of course so yah its pointless to even bother making this because prices would be through the roof for slightly better stats .It requires master woodworker and master herbalist so mats prices are terribly expensive. its too bad they ruined my profession.

Since it requires real player time to make, craftable items should by default (in my opinion) have unique qualities that make them better than their dungeon dropped counterparts.

A fun thing to do would be to make a craftable upgrade for dungeon dropped equiptment, or any for that matter. Make it to where crafting can add stats, or even... a tier or two

Then you'd see people begging for craftsmen. :)

Agree with that, I feel crafted items should have some sort of advantage over drops.
As it is, except for a select few examples, there is no reason for anyone to choose crafted gear.

What about the real player time to learn strats and farm the gear, plus the cost of an ABL, and not to mention all the pots, food, hammers, etc it takes to loot the instance only items? o.O

Now this I can totally get behind. The low level enhanced recipes are pretty much worthless but make an enhanced recipe using end game instance drops or PS gear and I will bug the heck outta the crafters I know to make them for me.

Having gone from being a full-time crafter to running instances full time, I see a few things.

1. Running instances is cheaper except for the ABL's. (pots and hammers are easily attainable from the minigames, so your only output is actually food and ABLs). Now cost of ABL's vs. lvl 70 mats is comparable, but since you need multiple purple mats for each piece and only one ABL per piece: instance running comes out the winner.

2. Time taken to learn strats and farm the gear = $$$ from overpriced selling of less than 80 dura items. Time and gold to get to level 70 in a craft = ~200+ hours of play time and Billions of gold and we only get a chance to sell an item for a decent price if it is 101+ dura. Instance running comes out the winner.

You are the winner, don't whine about it.

I was really looking forward to the crafting when I started this game, but after seeing how worthless it is at higher levels I was quickly turned off by it. Its a shame too, this was one of the better features of the game imo, I always enjoyed crafting.

To my surprised no GM/CM and no promise that will be fully noted and forwarded...

I guess crafting is not good after all... :D

I don't know any game where I've been very happy with the crafting system or found it rewarding, especially at the higher levels. (Except most games have decent need for alchemy-type crafting)

But...

Why doesn't EVERY damn game have this! Such a good idea...

And, no, I don't think anything should necessarily beat end-game boss drops, but having crafting items that aren't too far behind would still make them very useful, since most people can't get/afford those high-end items. Look how popular Dur Craftsman's were/are, even though they weren't the "best." They were very good (at the time) and way cheap.

Just a quick note.
When the Forums were updated, I as well as others had the same warning.
I simply cleared my chache and cookie and temp files.
Once that was done, I could log back in.
Please give that a try before jumping to conclusions.
Please let me know how it works out for you.

Ah thank you never knew about that! :)

Anyways i still believe something should be done, but will it? I highly doubt it, i'm used to FA ignoring any recommendations.

I agree 1000% or something that makes it "worth while" to work weeks on crafting in general.

I was looking forward to crafting, but apparently it is not worthwhile. I have tried some low-level crafting and found it to be of no use. There are very good ideas here to improve crafting, but I doubt anything will be done.
