Yay! Blacksmithing (and Carpentry) useless now!

Gotta love updates that make skills you worked on/with for years obsolete. Seriously, though, it only happens after a new 12 man instance is released that they will allow you to simply grind out X mentos and buy the weapons from previous instances.

Perhaps the title of this thread is a bit dramatic. But instead of doing this they could have simply made the drops more available for the weapons (ToSH hard atm to get a Sigma Metal Stone).

What this means for the skill:
People won't spend big bucks for the uber weapons, because, hey, they can simply wait 6 months for the next content update and get the weapons essentially free (I mean, how hard it is to farm 600 mentos?). As opposed to being geared for last boss ToSH/GCH. Think about it... there is no comparison.

But hey, thanks for the easy "drops". Next thing to do would be making all the armor available so that we don't need to EVER set foot inside an instance to get gear. Or stat it (with tergothen bay events).

Just my 2 cents. QQ.

Crafting in overall is obsolete as better items do drop, and it takes forever to level. (someone mentioned that might have to do with mentality of people where major market for RoM is - ASIA)

As I already mentioned before, crafting should be adjusted, so that gear/weapon are better then instance one, but require you to work to obtain them (mats, recipe,...etc)

Also crafting should allow you to upgrade existing weapons but adding dura and/or drills.

As of moment, it really sucks...

Yeah, as a crafter I am a little disappointed in how much work you put into it compared to what you get out of it, but I still think with some modifications it could be useful. Take a look at Boss Furniture, difficult to craft, components are often rare and hard to come by, and at the end it is mere eye candy....but what if they changed that? Imagine if crafting a piece of boss furniture and hanging it in your house gave you some really nice bonuses or buffs..........and maybe some other benefits to having it in your guild castle? By adding more options for boss furniture from the newer instances and creating all the required sub-component chests crafting could get a new interesting twist as well as value. Imagine if by having a piece of boss furniture in your guild castle you could summon it during seige and defend a tower, or if you could summon it in your castle once a day and kill it as a guild for mems and loot?

Is very simple, until they figure out a way to generate diamond sales from crafting they probably won't invest a lot of resources in it.

If they're gonna keep Crafted gear stats as they are, they at least have to make crafting easier to level -_- Or maybe... Crafting Experience Stones that have a REALLY long time before you can use them again? There. Diamond sales.
Ithiriz(Osha M/R/W 50/30/25), Saerimuus (Osha Wd/D 12/1), and some other Elf, Osha D/S 13/10, not to mention a few random characters on random servers that I made but that you probably won't ever see.

My thought was of diamond shop items that guarantee OD or highest quality (white recipe always creating a blue item). Then if they made the crafted gear way better than drops, but left the stats on drops from instance runs (or these days just from mems).

And my new thought is... Both! But maybe (If I'm reading it right) having your idea as Crafting Perfection Scrolls to add to existing recipes, not just buying the recipes outright. Kinda makes the whole instance-run-for items thing pointless...

Instance runs would still be a source of stats. Even with mems you can't get all the best stats. Also, (at least for armor crafting) you can only make some of the equipment pieces (helmet, upper body, and legs for armor crafting). So the other pieces could still come from instance runs as well.

A lot of games have struggled with the combination of crafting gear and instance gear. I believe the best way to fix this is make the gear, almost but not fully, equal. As in, giving plate instance gear a higher pdef, and crafting gear higher mdef. Also give weapons effect skills. The ability to craft a weapon that will once an hour raise crit chance by 15% for 10 minutes, but has slightly lower DPS than an instance drop weapon with out the effect. And have the effects only available with the weapon equipped. And if it's Dias they're worried about they should sell scrolls, but not the mats, in the item shop for nice weapons and armies as such. They make money, people who worked hard to level their skills can put them to use with seperate, but equal(ha) weapons and armor. Some minor differences here and there that allow the player to choose which one better suits their play style or liking.

Sorry if there are typos or something unclear, on work with my iPhone. Damn auto correct :P

Exactly. Crafting doesnt give you everything. The accessories, and half the gear you will still need to get from mem vendors or instances.

Going along on the vein that this is about all crafting, is there a list of all the known Material drops for crafting and where we may be able to find it?

I totally agree with this, upgrade the crafting and since we have to gather all materials they should be better than the drops or mem vendors.

my two cents
