I'm not here to ridicule but after all the effort/expense of levelling my 1 & only pet that crafts to a level where it's crafting is now beginning to pay off with reduced costs of consumables your proposed changes would be very close to game breaking for me.

Crafting in this game has always been far less rewarding than it should/could be & on my server (Osha) judging by the simple fact that many mats are in short supply in the AH, I doubt there is much of a problem with pet craft botting.

As said earlier many of us buy the majority of our mats from mem & honor vendors which in turn makes gathering less profitable.
I blame the gatherers as much as anything for selling mats at unrealistly high prices forcing people to buy mats from NPC vendors.

I see this as just another "Nerf" thread. Please leave our pets alone!

Oh, good idea on binding mats. Those of us who leveled multiple alts to do mats processing (which you have to do, since you can't gather above 60 on same toon as does crafting) would really appreciate this change.

Oy!

I'm not advocating to bind mats, just those obtained through pet gathering... You will still be able to gather mats on your alts and they won't be bound. You'll just have to spend a little more time, be a little less lazy, and gather the damn mats yourself rather than go AFK and have your pet do all the work.

Also, in response to Garry, the consumables that you eventually make will be unbound - only the materials themselves will be bound.

And what materials are being sold at unrealistically high prices? I myself have bought a bunch of tarslin demon wood lumber @ 400 each which i think is a totally fair price.

Look, I do the pet autocraft thing myself (47 herb 41 wc 33 mining), so it's not one of these things where I want them nerfed because i'm lazy and dont want to work for it. I just think it's unfair when people have lots of accounts running at once doing the pet gather. IMO you should only be able to play on one char at a time AS WAS INTENDED. If there was a good way to prevent people from playing on multiple accounts at once then I wouldn't have any problem with pet autocraft.

Your alts are still the main mat refiners. You want to refine that L60 mat, you have to do it on the alt. Well, technically, you can 3 professions at 60, so if your main toon is master in a non-gathering craft, you can level two gathering crafts. It is still a waste of craft, though. You should be doing refining on alts to get them to mastery, and they will be getting the mats from a pet, not from hand-gathering.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

I would also be totally fine if they could make a way to have mats obtained through pet gathering be bound to a particular account, meaning you can send them to you alts but to nobody else. That way you still have your alts able to refine as before but we also cut out these abusers who have 6 or so accounts running the pet autocraft at once and then sending it all to one gatherer to refine.

Dc, how long have you been playing this game? since when have you've been crafting? You need alts to make and gather, refine your mats to make stuff, there is no way around it. I think there are better things that need to be adress in the game. Dog meat botters, botters in general, lag in siege, hacks in siege, people going to war agains't guilds that are AFK or smaller then them, so they can feel superior. People acting like 2 year old in world chat and ingame in general.

I see your point of wanting to make gold for yourself, i understand, but materials bound? really?

I would like to have Gameforge make drops 55 and lower unbound to everyone, then we could give it free to upcoming players to enjoy the game more. Maybe more people would come to this awesome game.

my 2 cents

P.S. i'm not flaming or troliing, just speaking my mind, even tho i'm Disturbed ;-)

+1 to the undbound gear under 55. Very good idea and I think community manager Dionea or someone should forward. Almost 0 diamonds are spent unbinding them anyways.

Yeah, I'm sure my guildees would appreciate how I'm the only master of mining in guild and now they can't have me refine their mats, great idea.

Also @ Zid, it took you 2 years to level your crafting? Sounds like someone took the slow boat to China, not that it's a bad thing to take your time but two years sounds like a really long time  (that's the most shocked face I could find)

That's not "intended," actually. They've stated before you can run several clients at the same time, so long as you're manually controlling them. As such, many people use this to do dailies with two characters together, or run a buff alt outside instances to buff your party (i.e. for D/W patk buff). It would be beyond stupid to tell people they can no longer log into two accounts at the same time just because of people that use PetAC.

And making mats bound, lol...GLHF to all the people that grinded up gathering on 2-3 different characters so they could make or refine mats for their craft(s) on a separate character.

Okay this is a good point - I didn't know that frogster intended us to be able to play multiple chars at once.

I guess that this also isn't as much of an issue for higher level crafting items since the pets cant even craft it.

I also agree with you Zid that there are much bigger issues that need to be fixed, like the stupid daily glitch on our server.

Maybe another solution would be to create an AFK mode where you can't do basic things like have the pet gather or fight monsters. And then they can have a non-AFK mode where there can be a random test every once in a while to make sure you are indeed online. This can fix all types of botters. Thoughts?

I suggested something for the botters for the last 2 years and nothing has been done. They should make a potion that disrupt a script or macro, that makes it reset. Then if the player is there he will keep doing what he was doing, if he's not then the mobs there will slowly kill him. They gave us Dancing Perfume at the crafting event for the alchemist, stop you from doing whatever you were doing and you start dancing for 3 seconds. They should just make on like that for botters, if they are not botting they will simply dance or else eventually die.

My 2 cents on this

P.S. but it will never happen ;-(

If you do that perfectly legitimate people that are crafting or afk'ing at the library or something have to deal with random people being jerks and using it on them.

Make the item not usable in Guild castle or homes. Dungeons too ofc.

I have seen this work pretty well in another game I played while on break from RoM. It was quick enough that it wasn't too grueling to press the right button (there were 9 different pictures laid out in a grid, and you had to choose the picture that matched the one above the grid before the time ran out), and it happened at different times. It worked very well for that game.

The difference, however, is that that game had no client instability, no lag, and bosses weren't something that could bring you from 100% hp down to 10% in an instant. Having a bot checker like that pop up in RoM during instances would be a very, very bad thing for people doing bosses with "you gon' die" moves on the tank or party. And knowing RW, it would probably freeze the client for a good second or two.

It's a good idea, but not for RoM. I honestly don't see how it could be incorporated without possibly causing party wipes. I did wipe a few times as a healer in that other game due to this, and boss fights were nowhere near as complex as here.

Yes, I agree that 400g each for blue mats is a very fair price.

Unfortunately, when it comes to mats required for essentials such as hero pots the average price for the blues required is around the 4,500g each mark on Osha which is the reason why I use both the honor npc & my pet to craft. As others have mentioned, my alchemist is an alt & if mats were bound I would not be able to mail over the mats from my main.

I support disrupting botters but there has got to be a better way.

Oops sorry - I meant that I bought tarslin demon wood timber.

And I can't even sell my Holly Lumber at 900 each, which I think is a more than fair price. So I would vehemently disagree that mats are too expensive - at least on Reni

Don't forget that there are mats you can craft, process and that no one needs. Except for leveling a crafting skill and then never use it ever again. Each category have there special mats, but 75% you do not use. No one will buy weapons, gear that are blue or green no matter the level, i know i tried ;-). You have to be careful what you craft if it's for selling and making gold.

Craft only the most demanded materials or else you'll get stuck with it. You can also add those to your guild contribution.
