Crafting - Worth It?

I recently came back to RoM after god knows how long.. years, I think. The elves had just come out when I stopped playing. I've been reading the forums, trying to figure out what classes to play, professions, etc.

My question to everyone is: is crafting worth it in general?

I'm a solo player (duo with my wife, but she works too much to play MMOs) that usually doesn't do any grouping unless I have to. I like to pick up professions and whatnot and level them anyway, because I'm a bit of a completionist.. but where professions are concerned, I like when they're useful, too. I'm not going cooking/alchemy on everyone just because it's the best or whatever.

Crafting in general is hardly worth it, cooking/alchemy aside. Most high level crafters do not make great deal of money from their craft. You really need to be the absolute best to make gold and even then, you will need the instance mats from very top instances.

That said, ROM-Welten recently said that crafting changes are being planned (exact phrase is "Improvements to the profession system" under Planned Future Additions). There is no definite official word, no details, no idea how extensive, no idea what source it came from, if the plan is high on priority list, etc. So I would treat this as a rumor as of now. Still...

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

ATM even alchemy is not worth getting higher then expert level (bellow L60).

Only useful crafting skill atm is cooking, as instances drop better gear, and crafting is very costly, time consuming and you end up with tons of produced gear, mostly will NPC it and end up having multiple toons trying to sell it.

I am leveling armor crafting toward master, and costed me in millions gold so far, without any good gains. Still trying to sell gear I made with last batch 2 weeks ago. :) Problem on our server is no enough low level/middle level players that are looking at gearing up.

Well alright.. I guess I won't really even bother with crafting, then. That'll save me a huge headache, from what I've been reading about it. Thanks guys.

Man I've been keeping the secret of the *awesomeness* of crafting for quite awhile. Been enjoying make quite a lot of gold too. I think its time to share (if i may :) ) its unseen full potential and how it is really worth it (with a little tweak). :)

(This short info is also dedicated to people who loves the arts of crafting/modding/mathematic-ing characters attribute as well as gears & armors. and also making gold in enjoyable and fashionable way. No more running in the lake xD )

For weapon :
-Selling plain-crafted weapon are not worth it,
-Selling "T5"-ed crafted weapon are really worth it (especially for weapon level 50 and below)
-Estimated profit : at least 500k each :))

For armor :
-Selling plain-crafted armor are not worth it,
-Selling "stat-ed" crafted armor are really worth it (especially for armor level 50 and below)
Question: Which stats?
With X-Stats from KBN acessories now outweigh most of the classic stats (bunker/crimson/castle/tomb/etc), and, if we can't farm KBN accessories, hope we still can farm those classic stats. Pull out these stats at least with NPC's fusion stones, let it shine in crafted armor.
-Estimated profit : (with X-stats from KBN, at least 1 million each) :))

Yeps, that's how I find myself crafting is really worth it. Happy crafting and modding the best stats for novice/intermediate player. They do buy. *yeay* :D

Extra notes : Not to forget on accessories too (like Yellow Peony Ring) and also on belt (like Bark Belt).. with x-stats, worth 1 million lol.. they do buy *yeay* xD

p/s: CP addons is your best friend for crafting. They never lie :)
