Trouble getting alchemy past 40+

Ok, so my alchemy is lvl 40 now and its at 0.00%, I DO NOT GAIN ANY MORE XP FROM CRAFTING! I am using lvl 37 recipes, it should give atleast something but I get nothing.
The NPC in Obsidian Stronghold "Myer Madison" has a exclamation mark (!) above her head and it is GRAY.
Same for the one in Varanas, same for the one in Dalanis.
So whats going on here?
I have only
Woodcutting - Master lvl 63
Herbalism - Expert lvl 60
Mining - Craftsman lvl 40
Alchemy - craftsman lvl 40
And all the others lvl 20 or below

(woodcutting.. I know I don't need it but its meant for mutual help with my gf who's a cook :o, and use an alt for mining Master :cool:)

So I suppose I am allowed to have 4 craftsman from which 3 are expert and 1 master? Then it should let me have one more expert :(

You can get one more expert, yes. You already have 2 (wood and herbs), you can get one more. Talk to heffner trainer. They will raise it with no quests.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

I'm having the same problem... Stuck at level 40 with 0.00 progress. OS, Dalanis and Varanas trainers all have a grey exclamation point. Varanas trainer gives me information about training but no quest. Heffner trainer says she can't raise my level any further. Alchemy is my only skill over 20.
I'd appreciate any suggestions. Thanks! :)

Hmm.. apparently the recipe I was using was too low level to register any progress. Guess I'm stuck making pots to vendor for awhile. :p
