Crafting skills development

Good morning players, I have a question to ask you. Is there any other way to develop blacksmithing that is not making weapons? I mean, I though smelting those ores into sands would develop the skill, but it doesn't. It also applies to carpentry and alchemy, for example. Creating those bundles and timbers do not upgrades the crafting skills, only the gathering ones. And for me it makes no sense, because the gathering should be concerned to obtaining the ores with the pick and crafting should be related to both making weapons and refining the ores.

If you want to wait 1-2 months they should be starting the crafting festival soon. During that event you can level your crafts with gold instead of standard mats.

Haha, that's a pity :(

I just don't understand the logic of those skills... But anyway, thank you for answering

THere are gathering skills and crafting skills. Alchemy uses both herbs and ores. At some point you cannot gather everything you need for the higher levevl potions, and so you must rely on the game economy to provide your mats. That is a lot more like it is in the real world. For skills, in the real world, as an example, the blacksmith relied on the moniers to provide him with metal and the woodsman to manufacture charcoal to heat his furnace. By hanging with other players you can find someone to buy materials from or to swap mats for finished products. To you it doesn't make sense, yet to me it seems a very realistic approach to have specialization.

Wait people actually rely on other people for their mats? I thought everyone just had 4 alts and had all the gathering skills maxxed.
