There is a way to load an empty file in place of a particular spell effect. Many players greatly improved their performance by removing the ugliest and buggiest spell effects from their game. Unfortunately for us, however, after flip-flopping on the issue for a while, Frogster's most recent declaration was that loading empty graphic files is an exploit, and against the EULA.

I don't thin it was announced that it was an exploit, but that messing with the install files for even what appears to be a valid reason is against the EULA, as it can easily lead to hacking the game. So by altering the files at all you risk a permanent ban.

id like to see this announcement. because if what your saying is true then all the ppl who are using advanced ah can be banned. the add-on your taking about doesn't do anything to the files in rom. it follows the way rom made add-on's to work. now i have heard on a version of that add-on that does violate ToS cause it changes the way you can play the game.

It was announced a while back after EU took over. There were multiple mile-long threads on it, which now are gone due to the forum remodel--though there might still be threads left over in the EU forums.

And no, it does not apply to other add-ons such as Advanced AH. FEU decided to outlaw Remove Spell Effects for those of us that needed it because of the rare few users that used the program to exploit and cheat or change the look of things in-game.

Most that needed it in order to play the game didn't stop using it, but you won't see any discussions on it remain unlocked.

"Rare few users"? Erm, what?

Model hacking is probably the most common exploit in the game, used by noobs in DS and end game guilds trying to clear as yet virgin territory. A guildie of mine was reduced to tears because he dared to set foot inside DS without "the file" and worse yet didn't even know what it was.

RSE is just another case of where players cannot be trusted to use good sense in the application of aids to their gameplay. The easy way to do things is just too appealing for the majority of people.
