New XBar update???

New XBar update???

I recently (today) received a notice in my curse client, that "xbar" needed to be update. Says my version that i use is 1.17. It says there is an updated version and it wants to update it to 1.45. Next to that, it says "Unconfirmed". With the option to update or ignore. I'm choosing to do neither of them at this time because I can't seem to find ANY info on this update. I don't know if it's legit or if someone "hacked" into it somehow. I figured I would at least post something in here to make sure it's either legit or whether or not we need to try and call out the guard dogs. I Should mention that I don't use xbar III or new xbar. I believe I'm using a deconstructed version. ida know. I'm so confused. If anyone has any info at all about this... ur experience or help could possibly save a lot of headaches if this isn't legit. Just wanna be sure. With all the crazy hacked accounts lately it wouldn't surprise me to see something like this. Thanks a lot in advance for any help or info.

there are two separate add ons xbar III and just xbar they are different things if you like it the way it is don't upgrade if you are curious about the other read its description and try it out

Looks like you are using a very old version of the original XBar add-on. That project was abandoned some time ago, but the last version that can be downloaded is indeed v1.45 while the oldest available is v1.17 (see here http://rom.curseforge.com/addons/xbar/ and click on the files tab to view all downloadable versions).

I'd recommend switching to either New XBar or XBar III. Both are currently being maintained by matif.

As for the possibility of accounts being hacked via some add-on, though it might be possible that such a thing is going on, there are much better candidate add-ons for something like that than XBar and similar.

Perfect! Thank you peryl. I like the old xbar just because it seems to work better for me since I like to handle my own add-ons. I didn't like all the extra add-ons (lag n stuff) so I kept it basic. Just wanted to be sure it was safe. I'll prolly just stick with the 1.17 just because I haven't had any issues with it and my disconnects have been very few and far between...But I do thank you very much for your responses guys!

And about the hacking that's going on...I knew it was a long shot that they might be doing it with an add-on but just seems so weird that so many people have been hacked. Never can be too careful now days. :) Thanks again!

I suggest you to download New XBar, because XBar II and original are too long ago.
Is there 1.17?
