Building generic scripts for DIYCE 2.0?!

As current DIYCE 2.0 topic reached 112 pages and is cumbersome to look for required scripts for defined class, I was thinking that topic where we would build list of skills for defined class combos that Ghost could use in later updates on Curse.com addon.

Idea is for each class combo is to setup 2 different buff lists, one that you like constantly to run (like house keeper pots) and second one with buffs for boss fight. Both buff lists would actually have optional lines that would be Boss fight only or pvp only, what is easy with current DIYCE 2 setup.

Next it would be 2 different attack lists that will have conditional settings for PvP and one will be ranged and other one being close combat.

By sharing ideas and building skill list it will also allow us to learn thing or two about different class combos.

Please let me know what do you think, should we start building general list of skills, or this would be another bad idea by yours.. :)

If we decide to proceed, I will create 2 topic, one for skill list used, and then another one where we would post finished sets for class combo.

If you look at my script for my R/S you can see how I built mine into including multiple modes.

/run KillSequence("","0") --- Buffs
/run KillSequence("","1") --- Melee Combat
/run KillSequence("","2") --- Ranged Combat
/run KillSequence("","3") --- Long Cooldowns (Informer, Unknown Choice, Caviar Sandwich)
/run KillSequence("","4") --- Burning Cooldowns (Strong Stimluant etc.)

There is a reason why DIYCE is called Do it yourself combat engine.

Actually, this is a really good idea. Not a bad one at all. I hadn't thought of this (this is why we all share information!). A list of buffs that could be called upon by any class that has access to it could easily be built, and the working of it are already in the diyce. If I had a master list of what people wanted, I could include that for you guys. I would need exact names of skills/buffs/debuffs (including ones changed by the elite skills).

I am glad you like idea Wolf.

@ Sekrit - I actually created my M/R DIYCE code based on your code for R/S. It is somewhat modified with PVP addition and couple other things, but mainly build for PvP in mind.

Reason I would like to share skill list ideas, it would be easier for Ghost to update his base on curse.com without him going to check every single class combo. He already has done a lot. Also this would help folks with the same class combo to share ideas. Not necessarily everyone will agree with generic code, but everyone can adjust code to their likening....

DIYCE gettin too long with stuffs. Smaller the better yo.

Instead of adding, and adding, and adding more and more, for the most part, useless/lazy stuffs, would be better to have a library of luxuries or whatevers. Some of us do not want fairy stuffs, timers, or whatevers peoples are making up nowadays.

Instead of implementing the loads of bits you think might be useful, better to just create a section that goes something like this

DIYCE Timers Example:
1) put code in section blah blah

Source code

1
blah blah code

DIYCE fairy stuffs
1) put code after blah blah, but before blah blah

Source code

1
blah blah rainbow fairies

or somethin.

In my opinion, the diyce download on curse should be the basic template for diyce, any additions people should refer to previously mentioned library thread thingy.

Length really does not matter, as it is class specific and you still have option to use multi-line comments if you don't like parts of it...

But for regular user who likes to try DIYCE, this would mean they can try it without going into programing your own skills.

That is the problem though.

I personally don't see the point when Peryl was in the process of implementing FuzzyDIYCE as a replacement to DIYCE 2.0 with additions that allow players to "share" and do everything through the game's UI instead of text.

Adding mini-projects to DIYCE 2.0 would only slow down the developement of FuzzyDIYCE.

Don't know about slowing down the development of FD (Dev on it is slow enough as it is :) ).

Not everyone will want to use FuzzyDIYCE anyway. There are always people who'll want to use DIYCE 2.0 (hell, people are still using DIYCE 1). So I don't think development of DIYCE 2 should come to a stop.

Giving folk more choices is, at least in my opinion, a good thing.

Agreed. AFAIK, FD is something totally new, so anything I do to DIYCE 2 will have no affect on what Peryl has in development. Also, as RoMage said, the length of the file doesn't matter... however, with the idea he gave me, this could potentially shorten the entire file by quite a bit, and also may well enhance the speed of DIYCE2.
