i am so angry right now. There was such a good discussion and Frogster basically killed it. I am bitter.

There was a very good offsite uncensored forum set up by RoM players, to discuss the truth of many issues that Frogster wanted kept silent. Unfortunately, Frogster's lawyers had that site shut down.

Maybe it is time to set up a new uncensored forum (no, not on the hacker websites) where we can discuss the nonsense carried on by the gestapo, such as telling us that banning people is equivalent to the Real Life death penalty, and offering another analogy of Frogster being the like Catholic Church and the players are the like scientists trying to study the facts behind the universe and the Catholic Church has them executed for revealing the facts (Frogster has them banned for revealing the facts).

I bought mine in Fall 1981. I remember playing it over the Thanksgiving weekend.

Yeah, that was the original Wizardry original release. I played in 1985, cause that is when I got my PC. Two salaries worth, $2000 for an XT class machine. Was considering 286, but hey... those were clearly too powerful and not intended for a single user.

The overall point is that we have gotten too spoiled. No patch for two weeks and people are taking to the virtual streets with virtual pitchforks. This is microwave generation, and the one that keeps complaining that microwaves just take way too long.

I am already in the process of contructing an unofficial forum (half-set up in my siggy). However I do need to get the say-so approval from Swag for trademark/third party issues. That's what I'm waiting for. I already designed and set up the site, but it's on lock down (meaning no one besides me can access it) until I hear back from Swag.

The difference between the site I'm setting up and old ones that existed in the past is that there will still be some basic ToS to follow (mostly set forth by the host site) and will be strictly adhered to so that no defaming or legal issues will be going on. It is not a "burn book" or "out to get FA/RW" type site; that is the wrong kind of attitude to take towards any game whether you like it or not.
What I would like is for the forum to just be a place to carry on casual discussion of topics that get closed after a period of time on this main site... in other words if you want to discuss the economy in 30 different threads then go ahead and without fear of them being closed or deleted. Or suppose you have a specific greivance that you'd just like to vent to the community without hassling the GMs, that'd be ok too. That should also prevent the type of unnecessary crowding on this official server, which is a hinderance to the GMs who are trying to collect useful feedback for RW.

Anyway if it does get the green light, I'll make a post about it. Already sent the idea to a GM who passed it on to Swag for the final say-so. We'll just have to wait and see o_o

So now FA is killing discussion by moving topic into proper sub-forum...

I'm scared by amount of aggro developing here... poor knights, what they have to keep up with... :D

The good old times when games were very stable....

Not sure how many kids would happen to know what this is... :) Really good old days... and we survived with that... :)

Wait, what?

Is that in the RoM EULA you have to get permission to set up a third party discussion forum about RoM?

Cripes, let me go read it again...

Bingo! (You earn title 'Adventure with real computer knowledge!', giving you fun buff of 20%. :D

I still got my Amiga 1200 and last week first time I met someone in USA that has Amiga?! (Apparently they were not so popular her as in Europe)

Here is another game that was my first outing into RPG, and this was one of the firsts multilayer RPGs... (split screen)

Sadly I think FA knows the game is messed up bad. I think they are riding it to its grave by not demanding fixes from RW. I have the feeling we are just paying for FA's next game while this one gets milked for all its worth. A pity because I doubt the next game will be this fun.

I love this 'only us' in the world wide game. Game is global, meaning there are players all around the world that are playing the same game, and they are most likely experiencing the same problems like we do. Don't forget, Frogster or Frogster America are not the only one demanding changes/fixes from RW.

F/FA might work on different game, but that has nothing to do with RW and quality of changes we are experiencing from them. (no matter how much F/FA pushes for those changes)

That is not entirely correct RoMage. If a game does poorly and the license agreement has expired the publisher has in the past dropped the game. Ive seen it happen to my wife's MMO Fairyland US. The EU and Asian version of the game was still going strong.

LOL no xD At least I don't think so. But public forum sites (like the one I will be using to host mine) have their own ToS specifically related to discussing topics related to a third-party...well, for obvious reasons. The reason I was going to check with the GMs and Swag first was because I want to make sure that the things we will be discussing do not infringe upon any of their rights as a third-party nor the RoM ToS. And that's important because if there is a problem, they can ask for the site to be shut down, which we wouldn't want.

I'm going to go ahead and assume that there shouldn't be any problems, but it would be nice to get an official "ok" to prevent any problems in the future. I'm still waiting on Swag, but I know he's busy so I'm trying to be patient >.<

You bet they are losing control. Instead of implementing ideas to curb gold sellers by actually using the community that plays, they ban anyone who recieves a large sum of gold through mail. I had a guildie get banned after he traded someone gear and they mailed him a large sum of gold from an alt. They are heavyhanded without much thought/discernment. On top of this, cash shop items stored in chests go missing, and there seems to be a complete lack of prioritization in actually getting them back. I know my server already has people leaving due to this, right when it was on the verge of coming back. I may follow suit unless something changes soon.

Make a reasonable request on the forums and they delete the post. I will never recommend this game or any other from FA based on my experiences. They nerf you and make you buy diamonds to change your class or make you buy diamonds to re equip. Bad business ethics.

I've had a TRS-80, Vic-20, Atari800XL, Commodore 64, Commodore 128, miga 500, Amiga, 2000... I ran a BBS for several years. I was USHQ for Angels/Defjam back in the 80's. Those were the days... =)

I come back to the game, and see all this commotion. Sorry to see nothing has really changed.

And to stay on topic, I am not sure Frogster ever had control of the situation in the first place, dating all the way be to Release Day. Losing control? Lost control? Never had control? Any way you look at it, it is not good.

Much like any game, there are some offsite forums out there or at least there were last time I bothered to check. They are... umm... they make Mos Eisley look like model of civility.

The problem with a lot of unofficial forums is that they're bascially just digital burn books where people assume they can defame the crap out of a company just because it's not a company-owned website. This to me is extremely juvenile and if you dislike a company so much as to defame them (which is illegal by the way) then it's obviously not a company that you should be a willing consumer of. Just common sense.

If the unofficial forum I set up goes live, rest assured, it will not be a place to drag Frogster/Runewaker through the mud. I have my own rules of conduct for the site on top of the host site's ToS. If it cannot be a productive environment for people to use then I will have no problem shutting it down. No reason to set it up for people who don't know how to behave.

EDIT: The unofficial forum I made is officially live! Enjoy :)
