Runewaker's new MMORPG revealed [video]

Dragon's Prophet. Not much info, but graphics fly-overs of cities and locations.

Apparently you'll capture dragons that will add stat bonuses to you.

I foresee a whole bunch of "Why don't they fix ROM" comments coming this way. :) As much as people are annoyed at Frogs, they are enraged at RW.

Not a lot of info is correct. See some extra stuff if I poke around the site, but nothing too informative. This image looks little too dramatic for my taste, but hey... they tend to be too dramatic in promotional screens. Dragonback combat is not something I'd like to see in MMORPG.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

lol... Let me be the first to fulfil your prophecy.

If it's made by Runewaker, I wouldn't be too keen on playing it. Hell, knowing our luck the dragons will randomly vanish from underneath you, taking half your inventory with it and sending you plummeting to the jagged depths below. And if it's cash-shop based... forget it. After playing RoM I don't think I'll be playing any more cash-shop MMOs, especially if they're made by the same company as this wallet-gouging black-hole.

I'd play an MMO where you could be a Dragon character (if well designed an well implemented), but I'm not particularly interested in playing what looks to be the equivalent of Pokemon on steroids. "Gotta catch 'em all".

Oh, but for those who don't want to spend the time catching dragons, we'll give you the option to purchase an item that might give you another item that might give you a dragon - but not only does that other item have a high chance of failing, it also has a chance to take away one of your existing dragons as well...

No thanks.
Retired from RoM. Sorry Froggy/Runefailure. You've had years to fix this game and you failed on every level. Completely, epically failed. Until you get your poop in a pile and fix this game, I'm gone.

@ zaeltaeth - and yet you are playing this broken game?? :D

At least now we know why some things never going to be fixed in RoM. But speaking of stability, since last maitenance I did not crash once, even I use snoop more then normal. Has anyone else noticed this? (don't remember seeing notes about my friends that do SW for on/off as I used to)

As for game itself, they finally implemented flying in RoM??? :D

The mechanic mentioned is interesting, too, because a certain king gorilla of MMOs is essentially turning into Pokemon. Like, really, really pokemon.

Any race/class will be able to go into the open world and catch most or any of the mobs, train them and battle them with other "Pet Masters" and battles will be turn-based.

Um, not exactly :p They are just adding a mini-game to the already existing companion pets. You can't go out and "catch" any mob and they don't give you any stat boost or affect your gameplay otherwise.

As for Runewaker's new MMO, I am looking forward to it because I enjoyed RoM. I just hope they spend more time and care on it than they did with RoM.

Good point, but how many companion pets does wow have? I thought they had tons and tons. And don't you go out into the world to find them? like a drop? Do Pokemon add stat boosts to your character?

I have to admit, it sounds interesting and I'd like to give it a whirl, but if it is basically just a plug-n-play mini-game, I doubt it will win me over.

New MMO:
This is, I believe, the first new news we've heard about Runewaker's new MMO, since they announced it years ago. Then, all they said was that it will be a next generation MMO and they actually did not state whether it would be free-to-play or not. Times and business deals change, but I believe they had announced Frogster would have world-wide publishing rights.

lol Yeah. I'm still here, like a wart on Frogster's backside. :D
But, even though I'm still here sucking up their bandwidth, under the current state of development and management I'm not buying diamonds, so I wonder which is worse: not being here, or being here but not buying anything...

To me, avoiding a new game is a lot easier than quitting an existing game where you have high level characters that you have invested time and money in; where you have friends and guild-mates and that carmaraderie that comes with playing alongside each other for an extended period of time...

Call me sentimental but that is one of the main reasons I'm still here. That and it's free, so I can just loiter whenever I want.

Even when GW2 and other games come out, I'll probably keep my toons going here and haunt the place, but until things in the game development and management improve to my satisfaction, I'll definitely be a free to play player. :p

As for the game itself... well I rarely ever crash, except for in siege - and even that's kind of random. Some sieges I'll never crash at all, others I'll be reloading every five minutes. Yesterday's siege was crash-free... but then again we came up against a no-show guild. I have my suspicions as to why it was a no-show, but I'll keep them to myself for now.

Not necessarily. I posted this find in another thread, but it's relevant here:

Frogster Interactive Pictures AG, international publisher of massively multiplayer online games headquartered in Berlin, terminates the MMO game development project pursued with Runewaker Entertainment under the working title ‘Project X’. In the perspective of the executive board, the continuation of the project would have represented more risks than benefits according to present assessment. Frogster has accordingly cancelled the associated development and license contract with Runewaker Entertainment.

It would seem that the Runes of Magic player base aren't the only ones losing faith in Runewaker.

Saw this today. The game looks somewhat interesting, but...as I was looking at the gorgeous towns shown in the trailer, I couldn't help but ask how bad the hellish lag will be in them. >_>

Sounds creative, for sure, but I don't have much faith in RW's skill in developing a game.

Heh, I was just about to post the same comment.

I don't think I'll be pursuing another RW-created game.....

Bah! Definitely not going to be playing another RW created game, especially if it's cash shop based. It's 1 and done for me! At this point I think I'm swearing off all other F2P games entirely.

Still mulling over coming back to ROM, argh...
