Saw this going around on FB like wildfire earlier last night.. brought me to tears as well.. scary world we live in sometimes.

Someone is bound to post up the info about how this charity is a "scam". Maybe it is...they certainly are pretty lousy about their money. I figure I'll ward all that off by saying this:

You should never donate money to ANY charitable organization without checking it out and feeling comfortable with your donation. If you feel the children of Uganda deserve assistance and protection, you can show your support by just spreading the word or contacting your congressman. If you want to go further and donate money, you can help these children through a donation to any one of good charities such as Amnesty International. If you have checked out Invisible Children and want to contribute to them, go ahead and do so.

All that aside, the plight of these children is real. The pain and fear are real. As citizens of the world, it costs us nothing to CARE about what they are going through. If we can also help in some small way, then good on us.

I used to donate to those type of charities. Now I refuse to mainly because they do nothing for the children that need help in the USA. If you want to help some little child in a backwards country that wont help its own then go ahead, but I will not. if their own government refuses to do something about its own citizens welfare then why should I care.
Yes I am calous about this but I know several hundred children in my own area that need help and yet we never see a single dime out of these "Save The Children" charities. The real invisible children are the ones that are in the USA that are neglected and ignored due to their status.
If I say more then I may get banned so i will stop now before i go any further.

This one's not really a "feed the children" charity case, it's more along the lines of uniting the world against a warlord (Jospeh Kony) who kidnaps children and forces them into slavery, turning little boys into a militia of human shields, and little girls into sex slaves. You know, kinda a mass genocide of a race of people starting with the kids... It's basically calling for justice against a psychopath like Hitler.

But they're not asking for money, at least not in any direct way... they're asking for awareness, the making of Kony famous, so he can't hide in anonymity from the world for his crimes. They've already done all the leg work, funded their organization, recruited the celebrities, convinced the politicians... even have US troops already deployed to aid in his hunt. Their goal is to make sure that people don't simply "forget" about him, so he can slip back into the shadows.

The only thing they're really asking for, is to simply let others know about him, and his crimes against humanity, so the word stays spreading. The kit that I mentioned was something "extra" if you want to help participate, that includes fliers, posters, awareness bracelets, stickers... stuff like that, that will be used in a globally organized event on a specific day and... well, if you want to know more about it... just watch the video

yup, i can see our generation of children going to school couple years from now and learning about hitler, then learning about kony & how we could stop him but did not deport much help untill it got too out of control,

and whos to blame? obama ofcourse. i dont think any other country has as much power as usa in doing that type of stuff, kill kony and receive a dam "+1" in peoples eyes, its election coming up, and i bet thats whats gona happen, maybe a month before presidential elections hes gona sign the assassination note, kony will be killed, and hes gona walk his shiny asz in front of thousands of people with a full 32 teeth smile.

president has permission to send troops into an area and not ask congress permission to do so, for 60-90 days and then he needs their permission, image what can a squad of troops do in 60-90 days.

What I was trying to say was that I am really glad there is some momentum building against a true monster, even if it is very little & very late.

like the video said, he operates in anonymity, and for the last 30 years, he's been committing these acts of horrific violence beyond the veil of what humanity could witness... imo, making him famous, making his crimes known, and bringing together a global voice through social interaction was exactly what was needed to declare to the world that his actions are no longer welcome on our planet

Just dont expect that things would be good if his little troup of thugs is gone. The conflicts in the area are between bad and worse, and just because he happens to be worse does not mean that others are going to be much of an improvement.

It is hard to think for some people that these things happen but every day people suffer do to people like Kony.

... Or how 2/3rds of the money donated to this "cause" goes to "Production Budget" and the other 1/3rd is left in the hands of a foreign military? A foreign military that has been noted by the united nations to also use child soldiers and murder/rape civilians?

... Or how the makers of this film made a whole bucket full of other anti-Kony videos before this one?

... Or how... well, could go on.

But cheerleaders will cheer lead. Thats just their nature.
