2 years ago we finished completing our cabin building process and moved in.
During lunch break i enjoyed walking up and down the porch that goes around 3 sides of the little house to relax from work. One day I stroll around watching the world go by on said porch (2 feet up of the ground) when I saw some car standing on the other side of the highway which drew my attention. I kept an eye on the car trying to figure out what it was doing there, still walking down the porch. I did not pay attention of my walking and my right foot missed be porch by quite some inches. Surprised by the suddenly missing porch boards under my walking, I went flying, one foot off the porch, one food still on the porch, face forward over the edge. I did not manage to catch my fall and while one foot hit the earth below the porch at a terrible angle, the other one still tried to "stand" on the porch.I heard breaking bones in both ankles. I then smacked into the ground, unable to move for several minutes from sheer pain. I finally somehow managed to drag myself back on the porch and back into the house. Husband was not there and lunch break was over so I rested my feet on another chair and continued working, crying and hysterically laughing at same time, in terrible pain. By the time hubby got home both feet and knees were swollen like balloons.
Took 3 months to heal, my guess is they were broken or severely bruised. I wasn't able to walk or sit without pain the entire 3 months. I never went to see a doc
I still enjoy to stroll on the porch for lunch breaks and other occasions, but I am a bit more careful
