Venus Transition

Here's a once in a lifetime event. Venus transitioning the sun. If you can't go out to see it yourself, go here:

Next transition is in over 100 years.

Hehe... call me geek. Got the my friends 'scope out on the balcony to view it live, and the NASA feed going on the computer.

Tried a pinhole projector too, but can't get the projection large enough to see Venus' shadow. Ah well... The 8" 'scope will do (with appropriate sun filter of course).

BTW Do not look at the Sun directly, and never ever EVER look at the sun through a telescope or binoculars without appropriate filters. Doing so can blind you. Really! Just wanted to throw that out there.

Edit: Grrrr... Stupid clouds rolled in, looks like rain incoming. But hey, got to see it live so I'm happy.
Edit 2: Lucked out and the Sun peeked under the clouds and the rain still held off so got to see some more :D Now the sun has set here so can't use the telescope anymore. NASA feed remains though.
