Maybe maintenance should last longer than this...

Say a couple of weeks. A cool-down, of sorts. You know, to get things really going in the game. Of course, with the longer and more frequent maintenance times it probably isn't far away, as I recently discussed with another player who started with open beta on Runes of Magic.

what do you mean with more and more frequent maint times? its once a week, every week, except for when a patch comes in with a bug, wich is not all that often. at least not a bug major enough to warrant an extra maint other than the weekly. In all honesty i dont have any issues with the games playability. i might get a dc once a month, i have never had a missing texture issue, never had a quest bug on me, only lost one chest, and got it back. I am curious what you mean by getting things really going.

elaborate?

Yea, its a little strange to have the game loader itself saying "this sucks".

But regarding the maintenance, there will always be delays because things happen. Complexity in design adds time to such maintenance. However a good server admin knows how to keep times down even in the event of catastrophic failure by having planned for failure. Given what we have seen here is that they are rather lacking in proper planning and administration.
A real sysadmin knows how to change the time.
If you make the same mistake while trying to make up for the previous one, you are doing something wrong.

As much as I'd love to say I offer consulting services, the scope of things broken is too large.

Well aside from the updates posted to twitter (they linked the wrong twitter account since it is supposed to be using a centrally managed one for all server groups) and facebook, they posted information on the forums about the delays to 10am PDT.

On top of the maintenance for the following: "In addition to that, our website, forums and account management system will be offline as well". Forums are obviously still working, the main website is obviously down, the game is obviously down and the account management system is online. So which part is getting the delays.
Is there a patch? There was no mention of one.
Is the website getting a massive update? Possibly, but that does not warrant 9+ hours of downtime under any circumstances.
Are the GMs/CMs/Mentors directly involved with the server maintenance? I certainly hope not otherwise they have been lying to us. If anything this should give them more time to actually relay information as they should be doing

It's called "sarcasm" and I am a chapter 1 player, and maintenance periods have become more and more frequent until they are run weekly. I will cut them one tiny bit of slack, which is probably the majority of people have not had absolutely consistent problems from patches. It's very, very nice you've never experienced a problem, and congratulations.

What are those? I think they were still trying to figure out how to copy html files to the apache servers for most of the day. Translating patch notes is clearly the lowest priority

O.O patch notes??? i wanna see what they fixed this time! i think nothing, maybe varanas port cuz patch is really small, anyway idk why people rage about maintenance weekly, in all good games will find weekly maintenance for all server, is a "law" of MMORPG
