Poll: Elves or Dwarves?

Not necessarily in RoM. Just fantasy in general.

Elves, by and large, are made to appeal to angsty teens. They are pretty boys of fantasy. Meh. I say (bleep) the hippie tree-huggers and go dwarf. They aren't pretty, but they live in real world.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

When are elves NOT angsty (and no, making Keebler cookies or slave-laboring Santa does not count)?

Angsty? I have to disagree but I can see where you're getting that. Elves aren't as easy to do justice as dwarves, I believe. But i think the image of elves has been distorted by angsty teens themselves. They make some edgy character with black hair and pointy ears as a character in their silly RP and suddenly its an elf. However, most of these people have yet to read LOTR or any book with what I consider a "true" depiction of elves - focusing on elegance, nimbleness, and etiquette.

Ha! I say elves are also focusing on being effeminate androgynous sissy boys too. Don't make me link Orlando Bloom drawings from fangirl sites. No thread ends well once that happens. :p

Again, You are talking about how PEOLPE have distorted the image of them. I'm not trying to attack your opinion of dwarves or anything. Dwarves are awesome. But with your logic you are basically saying you can judge a game/book/movie by some weird fan fiction some 12 year old kid wrote about it. Also, I said "...most of these people have yet to READ lotr...". Orlando Bloom (being in the movie) should not even be mentioned. However I must admit it is sot of gimmicky when people overplay the "beauty" aspect with elves. But I think LOTR kept a decent balance by not exploiting the elves way too much.

It's hard to compare the two equally. The elves live and protect nature and dwarves bend nature to their will. Both have close ties to the 'earth' and its resources, but use them very differently. I prefer a darker elf race like the dumnar of elder scrolls, wise from age and respectful of nature, but also ready to throw down at a moments notice

What about the elves from the Eragon Books? The paint elves almost the same way as in Lotr, but better in my opinion. I also like the dwarves in this series as they are how i would think of a dwarf. Miners and they worship stone basicly. Oh and thier all under 4 feet tall :P

Definitely elves. But, if possible, some kind of dark, twisted elves. >: D
