Paz. You do realize that none of the aforementioned was in English, right?

COME SAVE ME.

I'mma download you some special sheep rule 34 stuff, mkay? Just talk me through giving you the reins of the beast and make it all better. There's free mutton for life in my offer. The party of the first part offers one leg of lamb with nylon stockings included for the provided service of doing whatever the hell you just aforementioned.

God now I am confusing myself.

Come help me, I have pr0n.

You *do* realize that you could simply save money and buy a replacement of the *original* card, with which you seemed to be eminently satisfied.

Or did you develop a video card epeen that I didn't know about? :D

Just send me the one you have and I'll send you a feather, 'mmkay?

Get a Nvidia. Honestly, whatever has dedicated memory is fine. Never use integrated memory for rom. Its crap.

Card I use is a Nvidia GeForce 540M. 1 gig dedicated memory. Not the best, but gets a lot better fps than whatever crap u got. Im sure you can compare my card to whatever youd look to replace your own with. Anything near or over my specs is good tbh.

And use paz's fps thread. Its like a guide to Crayola RoM

I hate you both.

Mal, my old card performed fine on low graphics and only had major issues during Dalanis mem raids. This one- has never given me as many fps as my old one and has gotten progressively worse and worse. However, Paz swears it's a driver conflict with Windows 7. So, if I'm gonna have that problem, you would too. And I can't get my old one again even if I wanted to, asus stopped making it iirc. Even if they did, it's been so long since I replaced it, I can't remember which one I had, I only remember it was a 5700 series. ATI is pretty far past that now, so why would I intentionally downgrade? This one I have is a 6770- theoretically it should be outperforming the old one. I don't have card-epeen, I just want to be able to hit mobs again. Actually, I want to look down and see "60 fps" in the bottom of my screen and be able to play on normal graphics.

Raves, the card I have has 1gb of dedicated memory which is not helping. And of course I used Paz's fps guide, which was of limited use since he wrote it for Nvidia cards. But I also used flesh-and-blood Paz, and as you can tell from his technobabble above, it sounds like he has the problem licked, I just don't have the savvy to carry out his "instructions."

Grrrr.

If I do replace it, I might just ship it to you Mal. You two deserve each other! Or, *lightbulb*, I could ship Raves to you. Heheheheheh. It's good to see you back on Raves ;)

I got fairly new setup and one of 'unsupported' video cards, (made for CAD drawings) and RoM tends to crash a lot if I have 4 clients connected for over a day. Current setup runs fine with 5 clients at the same time and 2 screens. (never consumed more then 50% of cpu or memory)

@Raves - it is not just regular pr0n. It is midget pr0n. :d

Wouldnt say your current card with 1gig dedicated would be an apt comparison to other competimg cards with that same spec :P 1gig should be more than enough, as long as you have enough actual system ram to go with it. I run with a lappy that has 4giga of system ram, lag is usually bareable when i do get it. I blame my 40 or so addons for FPS drops. Removing nkxtdMacro addon really helped with my fps. Used to have 10-20 fps drop with it on everytime i casted a spell.

As for what type to get, just get a Nvidia. Sure AMD might outperform some model or whatever benchmarks but you just cant beat reliability and ease.

P.S. buy me a new laptop fan plz. mine started making loud noises when it spun and when i took it out to see if oiling the bearings would help, i brokededededed it >.<

I have a Dell-issued HD 5770. Other than the fact that I can't update the drivers for it (unavailable from Dell, ATI-issued drivers won't work with it), it works quite well. I've never had FPS issues in DoD.

n00b :D

I presume you "broked" the HDD when attempting to lubricate the bearings.

That used to work in the Bad Old Days, back when MFM drives were all the rage. (Yes, I'm *that* old.) It would have been better to acquire a new HDD for the laptop, back the old drive up somewhere else (external drive or to "the cloud", then swap drives, reinstall Windows, then get your data from the backup.

Idk what an HDD is but nothing but the fan is broken x.x

Glad i didnt take it in tho. Its like $50 for them to just open it up and "diagnose" the problem (well if its the freaking fan thats making noise...) then another for a replacement part, and then another 30-50 to put it in.

So im just going with the 30-50 to get the part replacement and put it in myself :)

HDD- hard disk drive is where everything on your computer is stored and there is no fan in it... and BTW if you want to run RoM with great speeds and boot your computer fast you should check out SSD it's 10times faster than HDD and doesn't cost a lot now.

Ah, the hard disk is fine, just slides right out, not attached to thr internal components so not subjected to the internal heat/temp that the motherboard produces/is subject to.

My problem is the standalone fan that connects and cools the actual motherboard and everything else inside.

http://www.google.com/search?q=acer+5755…biw=533&bih=320 <-- not my pic, but thats the fan sitting under the motherboard

http://www.google.com/search?q=acer+5755…533&bih=320#p=0 <---google pic of the actual fan i need replacing

and sorry fanny for hijacking...but you know me long enough to not expect anything less :)

usually all you need is to put a vacuum nozzle on the center of the fan housing. they develop a static charge and can build up more lint/dust/hair than seems physically possible.

here a disassemble walkthrough..if you're feeling up to it. you can probably find 100 on youtube as well

http://www.insidemylaptop.com/disassembl…-series-laptop/

just do it on a flat surface...carefully. the only thing you can really damage easily is the fine, flat cable attaching the keyboard. or u can just take a can of duster and the vacuum and try to clean it without taking it apart.

i had a laptop for work with SLI and an extreme series cpu.. had to do this weekly. was a royal pain

Have you tried playing other graphic intense games to confirm it's the video card? Do they have the same problem or is it just ROM? I run a HP probook 4525s laptop with only 2GB RAM and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4250 (essentially a hamster wheel attached to an etch-a-sketch) and most of my lag problems are in SW. Runs have not been a problem unless everyone in the group is attacking, healing, or running at the same time and I turn up the graphics.

yea when it crashed last time she sent me that specific dump and lkr-watchdog file. it's a really common error, so common m$crosoft released hotfixes and alerts for it. it's just really annoying to fix since its caused by any of 10 things..flash player sharing resources, the bios setting for precision timing and a 3rd party driver conflicting with the vid drivers being the usual culprits

im upgrading from an ati radeon hd 5750 <- may this thing burn in hell a million deaths over, to a galaxy gtx 660 (on sale <200$ on tigerdirect atm)

my old card should run the game just find even should be enough for 3 windows full detail but there's some sort of compatibility issue and if I'm on max detail I'll crash within 5 transports way less if varanas is included. The stupid card was default to idle so low it wasn't enough power to even sustain windows just on desktop <.< wtf is that? lol

Oh no, im past disassembly. Ive taken it apart and put it together upwards of 7 times now. Its just the actual fan, guess a year of gaming takes its toll, Just gonna replace the fan itself with a new one and be done with it lol.

Your crashes at transport have nothing to do with card, but with memory leaks. As previusly suggested, use cleanmem for that. Here is an explanation about memory leak and how cleanmem helps:

Quoted

5. CleanMem does help with programs that have memory leaks. The memory is pushed to the system cache, not the page file. The system cache is still in memory. And a program can call back what it needs instantly. This is why there is never a hiccup in heavy 3D games as CleanMem runs. The memory that is not reclaimed is freed and allowed to be taken over after a certain amount of time. The system cache is not a bad thing! and is far better than the page file. Mainly because it has the GB speeds in memory than the MB speeds of the hard drive.
(Warning: Memory Terminology in Windows is completely screwed. System Cache could mean something else, perhaps Memory Cache is better? as proof of this confusing way the memory has been labeled in windows, in Windows XP the PF usage in the task manager is actually commit charge, not page file usage)

@ Raves - under bed? Really? No picture - did not happen. :p

I know about the memory leaks, it goes in hand with loading the textures which is where my specific problem lays. It's only this dam game(runs skyrim w/injectors smooth) and for some reason 2d flash nearly crashes me. Firmware is just garbage for this model.
