Both multiplication and division have exactly the same weight. Just because in the acronym PEMDAS M comes before D doesn't mean it outweighs it. Meaning, it is not multiplication AND THEN division, it is actually multiplication OR division, whichever comes first in the line (same applies to subtraction and addition). When you find the two in an equation, you go left to right. They are of the same value, so you are needing to try again until you get the right answer.
