Sure, people with poor math skills exist, just like people with poor communication skills who write expressions that could be presented in a better way exist. And yes equations can be poorly written, sorta like how code can be written bad but technically procuce the same result.

These threads have become funny to read. People each accusing the other that they don't understand math or write the problems out wrong. IMO these threads started so someone could show how much smarter they were relative to others, then the others started showing how it could be improved....

imo these threads were designed to point out the apparent lack of knowledge of the Order of Operations, and to educate those without the proper knowledge of the system. like some1 upthread, or in another thread said, the US is sorely behind in education, this makes it even more obvious...

Yes Cike, I started these threads to point out a severe gaping hole in the knowledge of some people when it comes to Operator Precedence when doing maths. The answer to this one is indeed 14. Some of you were quick enough to catch the -1, and to know that the multiplication was only to the one immediately left of the zero.
