I am going to put up two questions this time... (try not to use anything but your brain for these two (no calculators or wolfram should be needed here))

A.) 2 + 5 * 7 = x

B.) 7 - 1 * 0 + 3 / 3 = x

Solve for x in both.

Bonus question, for those that want to give something a bit more advanced a try (lets see how many of you have been paying attention so far...

). (This bonus question proves my point of why we need to know PEMDAS, so you don't HAVE to write out all the parenthesis all the time, knowing PEMDAS you would know how to do this.)

3X^2 + 2X – 4 = 15,909.75

Solve for x.

bonus: can we use a calc for this? i know how to do, but not in me head...

answer would be (-2+((4+(12*15913.75))^(1/2)))/6 and (-2-((4+(12*15913.75))^(1/2)))/6
simplified to 72.5 and -73 1/6, which is about -73.16666667

Bonus)
3x^2 + 2x - 385 = 0
By the quadratic formula, x equals
(-2 + sqrt(4 - 4*3*(-385)))/6 and (-2 - sqrt(4 - 4*3*(-385)))/6
(-2 + sqrt(4624))/6 and (-2 - sqrt(4624))/6
66/6 and -70/6
x= 11, -35/3

@Ascher - You grabbed the bonus question before I edited it. You are correct for the original though.

@Cike - you have to show the final answer. You may use a calculator if need be for the bonus, but no wolfram. The second one you gave is wrong though.

Just to be picky, you probably should have put parentheses or brackets in your work on the bonus question, seeing as it should be all the stuff to the left divided by 6.

Bonus question seemed to be less about pemdas and more about knowing the quadratic formula...
