Imo, most progress up to lv 72 now, whether its TP, gear, etc, is not really that significant, aside from lv 50 pet and ironblood will. The amount of TP at level 72 is trivial compared to lv 90 (I have 15 times the amount of TP as I had back in 72, and I don't really grind for TP that much). Although with the secret garden event every year and golden egg giveaways, even lv 50 pet is not much of a hassle.

The only thing you'd really lose out on is quest gear - that you'll have to start over, and you will need a bit of gearing for 85+. But as previous posters already said, that gear will not help you get any gold regardless, because it is worth nil now. And if you ask around in your guild, you can probably find people willing to loan out some old gear for you to quest with.

Well, found out for sure my brother-in-law's toons are history, so now waiting to find out on my ticket. One person we can rebuild; two is asking too much, and too much loss of time and effort to spend a lot of $$ on again.

Gearing is just as if not more expensive now in terms of diamond cost as it was back at level 72. It's probably more expensive actually because the norm has changed to higher tiers and higher plusses.

Well, to tell the truth, if you are level 72, you have passed the hardest and most boring part of the game. Leveling from there on is pretty easy, and the mainline quest reward gear is sufficient to keep you moving forward (Naturally OD 110 blue gear with pretty good ghost stats). I have seen toons go from 70 to 90 in a week of solid questing regardless of XP events. If your skills are still intact you should not have any issues. All that, based, of course, on your toon being retrievable (unfortunately I have a bad feeling about that).

One good thing (LOL) about starting over is the opportunity to choose your classes with foreknowledge.

The 1-to-72 part is the pain, and that's the pain one of us is facing for sure. My ticket is now in the hands of a GameAdmin - been all over the place since I opened it on the 2nd. It's weird, though, that my ticket is still being bounced while my brother-in-law had his ticket killed in less than a week (sorry, no toons for you, come back later), and we both quit the same day, abiet a few hours apart. 3 of the 5 of us uninstalled the game (was Frogster then), and moved to Everquest (for the 2nd time).

It is possible some nefarious person absconded with your BiL's account information, logged in, took what was worth taking and deleted toon out of spite. One could hope that your own account has a different history.

A couple/few years back there was a major hack of the log in servers where a lot of accounts were cracked and stripped. A great many accounts were cleaned out of all gold and items and some of them were deleted. The items were moved through a great number of accounts to cover tracks. After that only the accounts that requested and filed support tickets were restored. Your accounts could have been caught up in that problem.

Since neither of us (with the missing toons) logged in for years, anything could have happened. I know my password wasn't used in other games, but I have no idea on his. Maybe if they can get mine back, they can re-investigate his account. I know my wife and our other relative played briefly about a year or so ago (to check things out to see if it was worth coming back) but he and I did not. Idle toons = deleted perhaps?
