One word.

Vampires.

Yeah, I'm kidding. I was thinking more on the terms of Mushrooms. I mean..... who WOULDN'T play a Shroom Mage/Rogue?

It would be amazing if it is something different, I have recently discovered this game, and am very impressed, still a lot to learn but if there was a new class I am sure it would add a lot to the game, IMO a multi character animal class would be great, with Bears for Knights, Wolves for Warriors, Bunnies for priest, Avian mages, and Mouse like scouts. It's probably unreasonable but would be so awesome, especially with customizations to characters

I think that a new character type would be more fun than a new race.

Just seeing a different type of toon doing the same skills would be cute for a while but having a new character with an entire new sets of skills would be far more long term fun and better for the game.

Maybe a necromancer, elementalist, ninja, pikeman or trapper would be far more fun and bring in far more new players and even bring back some old ones.

What about Nagas?

Why don't they use nagas as the new race? They look cool and their two classes can be Shadow and Necromancer. Shadow can be a magical assassin and the Necromancer can use dark magic. Srry if my idea is bad I just started this game:)

Gnoles, Minotaurs, or Capra.

Don't get me wrong, Dwarves are cool too. But it's pretty much just a short, wide Human. I can already make a short, wide Human. At the rate they add new races, why waste the "Next New Race" on something you can already (more-or-less) make?

And to hell with new classes... Almost all the combat animations in this game look the same anyway. The new classes might look different as you played them, provided you keep reminding yourself that this skill is not that skill. Cause you sure wouldn't know them apart by seeing your character preform them.

My list of races I want to see as playable.

1) Bodo! Bodo! Bodo! OK, they would have to change the quest that turns you into bodo, cause you are one already. But, hey, that'll be totally worth it. And if they want to add new classes, like Bodo Elementalist, or Bodo Mighty Wielder Of Rocks and Sticks and Patches of Dirt, that would totally fit into the Taborean lore.

2) Still Bodo. Really, bodos are cool enough for two top picks.

3) Bodo again. Hey, what can I say? Any race that can take interpretive dance to the heights that bodos do it is a winner in my book.

4) Oh, fine! I'll propose a non-bodo race. *grumble, grumble* How about the Fungi? Yes, the ones from Kilanche Fungus Forest. Now, it is slightly unconventional choice, I'll grant that. But, hey, it works. A big fat mushroom with tentacles? Yeah, I'll play that. And they are so psychedelic, and they got powers.

*Shroomie releases spores. Spores hit Sirloth for 25673 points.*
*Sirloth is now suffering from Too Mellow to Fight effect*

Oh, yeah!
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

The only logical choice for the next playable race is..........

Half-elf

Now that the humans and elves have had plenty of time to get acquainted ;)

Quoted from "brownmango;422555"

And what happens when you equip a pair of pants? Or boots? How do you keep your Belt from just sliding off you? lol. Wearable items use "bones" to define their positions and boundaries. If your lower body were a scale covered tentacle, and your gear was visible, it'd be a jumbled mess. Unless they overhaul all the lower body & foot armor. Not sure they could make that work, even if they wanted to! In any case, it'd be a Blender nightmare. :p

Your idea isn't "bad". Just maybe a little impractical. Don't get me wrong, snake people are cool looking, in their own way. Used to call them "Yan-ti" in AD&D: Darksun. :)

I think they should just grab whichever (non Human-look-a-like) race that has a "skeleton" closest to that of the current playable races, and make that available as a playable race. Probably some consideration payed to which race already includes both sexes, and which have the most flushed out (already existing) animations, too. That'd probably end up being the Capra. The less work and hassle involved, the more likely RW is to grant our request. :D
