You people really need to learn what qualifies as a Necro and what doesn't. The thread is still relevant; the wiki needs both advertisement and input. "Necro" means to bring up a no-longer-relevant thread as a zombie abomination. This thread has simply been Resurrected. Learn the difference.

This thread was stickied in another less visited part of forum. It was moved here by general consensus because it was deemed to be duly beneficial for players to see. I realize it's an old thread, but it's still a relevant fan site, there's little reason to make a new thread that achieves the same goal. Let's not get caught on dates and instead pitch-in

There's a few things that needs to be fixed from an administration side of the wiki that just doesn't make sense right now.

* The community portal points to a dead page, with logs of deleting a redirect to the correct page. either the main link needs to be changed (doesn't make much sense) or the page content needs to be moved. Runes_of_Magic_Wiki:Community_portal != Runes_of_Magic_Wiki:Community_Portal.
* The community portal should be filled in with guides, tips, and project pages for the wiki itself, including editing, using and any major issues that are going on.
* A style guide needs to be written. there is no consistency on how pages are written or how they are named.

I am a great documentation writer and am willing to create a character just to write documentation on the wiki (starting over from the beginning quests).

One thing that is preventing me from doing this is the seemingly lack of organization...there are no projects and no 'here is where we need the most help!' pages or guides. what do we want the wiki to be like? Do we want it to take on a wikipedia style feel or just a generic guide?

Another thing I just found is the skill pages for each class contain a '/', which implies a subpage. Not good for a wiki. It looks like the pages were originally created on Class_Skills and then moved and redirected to Class/Skills. this makes no sense whatsoever. the original was correct in all usual usages of a wiki...why was it changed? You should usually never use a '/' in a page name unless you're actually using a subpage (which is bad in article namespace...it's usually only used in Project or User namepsace)

Feel free to add to the list of issues that have come up from the introduction of Chapter 4. http://www.theromwiki.com/Patch_4.0.0_-_Player_found_bugs

How you put in updated information like for skills and such and get it approved? I tried doing once and it was a total disaster, it seemed like I crashed the page instead >.<. I was only editing text fields so...not the actual layout of the page.
Character name : Signia-- Legacy: W/R unbuffed (completely): 96.5k patk, 24.Xk str 89k hp, 75% crit
Please Note: Not Active and Likely Never will be again.

the text fields you were editing is the base format for the wiki. Some special codes (most of which I can't remember) can make tooltip boxes, charts, graphs, ect that you may have seen on some of the other pages in there. The format that wiki uses is the same as most of the more popular game wiki's. I used to write some on the guild wars one and theirs is clean as a whistle, we need to format like that. Granted it wasn't always so, 5+ years of refining, double checking links, ect. but ours can be the same way. I encourage any and all to participate in this wiki as a good chunk of info out there is either buried under the trolling/flaming here, or just plain not available (such as the case for a good deal of the older content). If you wish to contribute but don't know wiki coding, just put your info on the discussion page ("discussion" tab is at the top of each page, if there is no current content in it, you will have to make a new topic in it). This is a powerful tool the RoM community could really benefit from. I am in the process of rolling a new alt so I can document the starter quests or double check the info up about it already.

There is one MASSIVE problem with that wiki: The fact that users have to register to edit.

Maybe there's overwhelming trouble with vandalism or something, but I know I've refrained from adding information dozens of times because of that requirement. I'm sure someone's getting ready to start hurling insults at me for being lazy or selfish, and you're free to do so. It won't change the fact that I'm never going to register/log-in to edit a wiki.
