Turn your graphics down.

Your computer is not nearly good enough to play on those settings.

Are you sure? the video seemed fine no lag detected. I play on these graphic all the time, never have a problem.

The video you posted is extremely laggy. It is well below what I would consider the minimum acceptable framerate. To give you an idea of how much of an impact I think it makes, if I had to play with that much lag I'd estimate my performance would drop by as much as 50%.

It might not really make a difference for solo play, but if you really want to be able to react dynamically in encounters then you need to fix it.

Here is my suggestion:

  • Turn all graphic settings to low and disable any additional effects
  • Install this addon -- it will remove spell effects
  • Only play RoM after a fresh restart of your computer, and make sure it is the only program running
  • You might have to turn "view distance" to a medium setting for playability reasons, but other than that nothing should impact gameplay

[edit] If you don't believe me, compare your video to this random video next to yours. There is a clear playability deficit in yours.

hm i do consider it laggy but not as bad as you are suggesting. are you used to playing
with 150+ fps? the only thing that annoyed/annoys me slightly is the loading icon his pointer turns into rather often. other than that and the slight lag i don't see any problems. Also, keep in mind that many times issues like this are just on the video without appearing while the person is recording the gameplay (i.e i record, in my screen i dont lag at all but in video its laggy as hell)

Could you push "ctrl-x" in game to display your FPS and then upload a quick video?

Does it bother you that much?
The videos next to mine are probably recorded with Fraps and are played on a desktop, i used a laptop. Ill re-upload a new video featuring the same content with the graphic lowered but, the point is to show the instance if it was to be on "low" quality it would look like trash and i dont like the game on low quality.

Try what span suggested, ignore the other guy.
I've seen many many videos like this and generally, yes when you're recording it looks fine. either the recording software or the software you are using to processes or even youtube are degrading it.
I've seen videos of worse quality show proof of siege war exploits uploaded to t50, the lag in this, although its there is not that bad.

You don't need to re up a video with your FPS thats just silly.. you aren't trying to win some contest here for a machinama or anything like that You've done what you've set out to do which is show off an instance.

Continue to do so the way YOU want too, not the way some troll on the forum thinks you should, and if you aren't suffering any in game while playing there isn't any need to change anything.

My suggestion had full intent in possibly helping you to improve as a player. There is a correlation between lower FPS and impaired gameplay. My point is if your screen looks as it does in that video then you gameplay IS being affected, even though you may not know it.

This was further evidenced by this quote:

I'm not sure if you're old enough to get this analogy but I'll try anyway:

Improving your FPS is like upgrading to power steering. People can get by without it and you can still park and maneuver without it, but upgrading to power steering makes doing the same thing much easier. Someone that's never driven a car without power steering may even say they don't need it despite the CLEAR (well, clear if you've driven both ;)) advantage.

More examples:

Upgrading to an Aeron (or Leap or equivalent high quality office chair) from a Staples $100 special. There is NO going back once you've experienced a high quality task chair.

Clicking your abilities. Keybindings your spells will improve play DRASTICALLY for the player, yet "clickers" may not even know they're doing anything wrong.

The point in requesting the video with FPS showing would give enough information to definitively diagnose whether your gameplay is being affected.

The point is that his gameplay might be affected yet he may not know it. Isn't constructive content good? If he was statting his gear and then tiering it directly after, wouldn't it be good for me to mention that he could stat and tier at the same time and save 6 puris? Or would me telling him that be "trolling"

Well, i do belive im old enough, and im sure my eyesight is good, hmm... when i record i do not see a preview of my video untill i stop the record button, and i dont have any lag at all that is unless i zoom in to my toon the effects like you mention do lag it up. But my point is to show the boss of the specific instance as close as possible to capture its beuty or looks. Also to capture the instance to show the viewers how spectacular the games instances are.

And i do feel a bit trolled, i know your trying to help but it feels like your breathing down my neck, ill keep your suggestion in mind.

Thank you.

Well ill be the first person in this thread to actually reply to what you were posting about in the first place. Cool run! That thunderstorm sure does work good on mobs!

From what I see your frame rate is a LOT better then mine was when I played on my old laptop.

Yea all these level 50 instance have massive amounts of mobs, ice dwarf kingdom, cyclops lair, kalin shrine, & treasure trove. They are so close togather it just looks like a mage instance. Thunderstrom, discharge, and purg.

Errr sorry, that age comment was not meant to be rude. I figure most players in this game are younger and cars without power steering are getting quite old.

And improved FPS would allow you to better show off the instances. The lag is very distracting.

Having your FPS displayed (using ctrl-X) during a video would easily clarify the situation.

how dense are you lol?

the OP already stated in post that he is use a free video recorder camstudio and gets good fps. Which means the video recorder can not record the frames being displayed.

the recorder is recording maybe 10 fps, while he is playing at 60 fps.

Also, even if the recorded fp was his actual fps, doesnt mean he plays at that fps while not recording. video recording is VERY cpu intensive, and if your cpu isnt very good, it will severely drop your fps.

As for the question earlier, there are a few others. hypercam2 is free, has decent speed but is quite bad quality sometimes. think xfire has a recording option for games too.
i use fraps, so dont know much about free ones, but as far as i seen, most of they arnt very good.

Ill say grats to all your solos thus far, but id say try to move more towards soloing ch2 or 3 content. As soloing lv50 instances at 67 isnt too much of a huge challenge.

I read the topic before watching the video out of habit.

I was expecting it to be worse...

Considering that was better FPS than what I get not recording with the lowest settings.

Nice video though. :[]

I believe that comment is more rude than anything I have said. All I have done in this thread is to offer helpful constructive advice that may help improve the OP's gameplay.

If the OP can post a video showing 60 FPS while the video is still incredibly laggy then great. Until he posts a video showing FPS (using "ctrl-X") I *strongly* believe his game experience is being affected, even though he might not realize it.
