I understand the idea in Roleplay-servers is to be given special tasks/quest which are beyond the scope of non-Roleplay-servers. I created a few toons on Govinda to see what is implemented by RoM, but ...
I could find no difference at all from non-Roleplay servers.
What am I missing? Can someone on a Roleplay-server please explain with specifics.

It really depends on the guild you join or the people you play with, if you want to stay in character all the time. It is not mandatory by choice of server in Runes of Magic. And to stay fair, since we have no dedicated RP-servers, you might find some players to be confused if you stay in character all the time. But our community is very inventive to host tavern events and such
A perfect time to show who you really are in game

you're confusing the concept of a server and a guild.
(Their reasons are legit though)

Not by features offered in game, no. Quest-lines will not change or offer different rewards, if that is what you mean.
It is more of a social feature and to me personally (since I am a role-player) it enriches my game experience, especially when I am with a group of other role-players![]()

Occupation: Eye of Wisdom Defense Mage
), RP as if they were living in an open-house village (Silverfall, Boulderwind, Static Lathrofea, etc.) and assign quests, with gold and item rewards, as well as perhaps XP/TP orbs for a certain amount, however they would have to aaste dias on tons of unbinders, advanced aggies... Yeah, RoM needs more RP support.

Does an FAQ or Guide on Roll-Playing exist? If so, where?
If not, it might be helpful for both newbies considering role-playing and those completely ignorant.
Perhaps someone who is currently a role-player and feels "it enriches my game experience" might
consider creating such a FAQ/GuideIt could include topics like:
- What is Role-Playing? Role playing is taking on a persona and acting it our through your character. In RoM you are limited by what the game allows.
- How Role-Playing enriches the game experience Many people feel that by roleplaying you can enrich the experience by creating a more in depth story that is easier to become absorbed in.
- Differences between RoM Role-Playing and other implementations It depends on what you mean by Other Implementations. Other games are the same as RoM, only limiting your character by what the game allows. Text based roleplaying (Like in chat rooms) is only limited by what the owners of the room allow and do not allow
- Creating your initial background story line Thats perty self explanitory
- Enhancing your background story line Same here. Although some say more detail is better, others less. Personally i say more.
- Finding a Role-Playing Guild Ask around
- How to go OOC (Out of Character) Going OOC is simply done by using some sort of signal. Some people say "OOC:" Before their messages, others use )), }}, ]], ~ (It doesn't always have to be 2 characters)
- Which RoM servers are best for Role-Playing? This really depends on your style, if you want a fairly closed RP, PVE servers would be the best, for something more open ended PVP.
- Creating Events for Role-players Sadly this comes down to the individual group or guild and is limited by, again, what the game does and does not allow.
What do you think?
