Rather New would like some Info Please.

Hello, I'm rather new to this game but have been playing MMO's for at least 4+ years (WoW for 4 Years Started mid of BC). I would love some info on some of the following things if possible.

-Rogues - I am playing a Rogue/Knight/Scout. I read a little and saw Rogue/Knight was a rather good Off-Tank if not Tank but it seems it has rather died down so I can't seem to find much Info for them as for Rogue/Scout I believe it was the Flavor of the month as some may say, I'd like any extra Info I could get as to which Abilities to max with Tp first and what not.

-Instances - I would like to know the set amount of HP and what not for prob the lvl 55-60 Instances since it seems Hp is whats needed most, or I could be wrong and maybe Dex or something if needed more.

-Making gold as a new person - I understand there are prob some nice ways that people don't wanna share and that is totally fine for me I'd just like something you know. I have bought my first set of Dims since they were 110% extra but I understand the Sell/Buy market is a bit tricky for new players and people trust Higher Lvl/Well Known Guilds.

-Gearing - I will give it to this game Gear is very Important it seems in this game. As a lvl 58 Rogue it seems to be getting harder for me since mobs now have a lot more hp and well without the 3 items a friend is letting me use I don't see how people lvl without a very nice guild or I guess some luck.

-Guilds? - Are they a MUST? I'm in Theoutsourced and well it doesn't have the members to really run stuff I was just wanting to know if finding a non guild run is possible and what not.

Thanks for any help and If another question for even if you could think of anything that might help me that would be great.

Hi Aber, I don't play on Reni, but I can add my two cents in and try and answer some of your questions.

R/S/K is a nice combo- you have access to the Flavor of the Month r/s combo, as well as r/k and s/r and s/k, and the excellent tanky combos k/r and k/s. It's a really versatile combo. Now, my advice is to (for now) gear and stat and work on the r/s. As I am sure you are starting to realize, it's quite difficult to gear and stat even one class combo to endgame, and splitting your focus can be highly detrimental to your progress. As far as specific rotation and tp allotment goes, I will plead ignorance and refer you to better sources. It would please me immensely if you would spam Roguespawn in game with those questions ;) Tell him Fan sent you.

As far as level 55/60 instances go, hp requirements vary. HP is the most important factor in those instances, because typically, at this stage, the level 55 players are being "carried" through those instances for gear by the level 70's who are already geared. You just need to have a minimum of say 15-20k hp to be able to survive the instance. No one will really expect you to contribute any appreciable dps, so dex or pa requirements would be silly. Now, this would be quite different if you chose to attempt those instances in a party of all level 55's of course, but it's really not worth the effort.

Making gold is a highly individual thing. You could attempt to farm dogmeat for gold (in Xaviera)- this is a common method. Too common. Competition for farming spots is high, and so is the frustration level. You can make gold some other ways though. Level alchemy or cooking and sell the produce. Alchemy is considerably easier to do, as lower level potions are relevant to all level players, whereas lower level food is not. However, there is competition in this market, YMMV. You could try gathering and selling materials, or pet-crafting materials. Alchemy + pet-crafting is a good way to farm gold.

You can also solo the lower level instances for vendor trash to sell for gold, if you can solo them easily, but this is time-consuming and r/s/k is not an ideal soloing combo. Another good market is instrument materials. Transparent Jade (Arcane Chamber of Sathkur in Sacilia Steppes), Mist Emeralds (Goblin Mines instance in Silverspring), Ancient Fossil (FA) and Hormone Crystal (NoM) sell very well and are easy albeit annoying to farm.

If you choose to sell diamonds, my recommendation would be to use Reni's Trade channel and look for "WTB dias!" messages. Inquire the person asking (shift click the name to see level and guild), and if they are max-level and in a reputable guild, try a small transaction and send your item first. Once you get a reputation as a reputable dia seller, you will easily find trustworthy buyers as they will recommend you to their friends, assuming they don't buy out your inventory themselves.

Gear is arguably the most important thing in this game. Acquiring gear and modding it correctly is key. My advice would be to not worry about it much until you reach max level though, as long as you can adequately deal with quests and open world mobs. Once you reach level 70, you will have more ways open to you to acquire gear. Phirius shells (which are rewards for minigame completion) and ancient mementos (boss drops) as well as Energy of Justice shells (from events in Tergothen Bay, the level 70 zone) are all forms of currency which will allow you to purchase purple gear that is adequate for entry-level endgame if you stat and mod them correctly. They are also a source for the stats that you need to use to mod that gear. For specific gearing advice, please please bug Roguespawn ;).

Guilds are a must if you want to experience endgame content. While you can pug instances, it can be incredibly difficult to find good parties. Bleeding-edge content can only be experienced within a top raiding guild. Now, at level 58 it should be fairly simple to find runs in Hall of Survivors (HoS), Hall of the Demon Lord (DL), Zurhidon Stronghold (ZS) and Dungeon of Dalanis (DoD). Most guilds do the first three at least once per day, and anyone can get a pug in DoD any time of day, even on my backwater server. RT, KT and up can be much more difficult, and finding a group willing to "carry" you for gear is unlikely to happen.

My advice with guilds is to find one that suits your needs and shares your goals. If you want to progress to endgame, you will want to find an endgame raiding guild. Heretic is the one that comes to my mind, but I am sure there are many more on Reni. Endgame raiding guilds usually have pretty strict recruiting policies, and you may be required to hit max level and gear yourself before they will admit you to that kind of guild. I would recommend contacting a officer in whatever guild interests you and finding out what their requirements are, and then you could make a decision about which one you like and see how much work you would need to do to gain admittance.

RoM is a gear-modification game, and in order to succeed, you either need vast quantities of cash or good friends and time, or some combination of the two. Set a goal, learn as much as you can, network yourself and you will go as far as you want to.

Yeah, R/K is not as good as it used to be. Knight in general need a bit of boost. R/S, on the other hand, is popular, and for a reason. They be good.

High end instances, HP is important. But that depends on role. R/S is DPS, so while you do need HP when you get hit with AOEs, your main role is to do damage. R/K is a tank, so yeah, no HP --> dead tank --> party wipe, as DPS and healers are not statted to take much abuse.

Making money is tricky on Reni - sales are slow. But, dog meat, as boring as it is, works, as does material/supply production.

Guild. A good guild will help you get gear. We make sure our leveling people are geared to run the quests at least with every piece of gear being imprisonment dirty yellow or better.

We are recruiting at Dawntreaders. :D Whisper me if you want to join.

And yea, guild runs are way way better than PUGs (Pick Up Groups). Only HOS is PUGed these days, and DOD I guess, although DOD is not gear runs as much as mem farms. Anything above, be it ZS, DL, WA, RT, etc is almost always guild runs. And, sure if you are well geared and known, people will invite you into PUGs. But, if not, guilds will run low-geared people through instances that they need to get gear, to the degree that they can run those instances, of course.

Thanks for any help and If another question for even if you could think of anything that might help me that would be great.

Aber - Reni - 58 Rogue/34 Knight/22 Scout

Hope that helps. And bug your guild. If they cant help you, then it is the issue of ability, and you can work together to gear up. If they can, but wont gear you up, well... time too look for some other guild that is recruiting mid-50s who need gearing and quest help. Or as a certain character has said - "Luke, you can't destroy Sirloth. He has foreseen this. It is your destiny! Join me, and together, we can rule the instances".
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

'Kay, this much may need to be made clear; Rogue/Scout has never been subject to being a Flavor of the month. Rogue/Knight for quite a long time has been the main DPS due to the factor of well, they can survive and by using Disarmament, lower the target's Pdef rather substantially, which in the long run made them the best sustained dps in the game. More recent developments have put an end to the second of these, and it's thrown a lot of Rogue/Knights into chaos.
Rogue/Scout on the other hand, has always been a stellar DPS. They were in fact for the longest time before level 65 when Elemental Catalysis for mages was changed around, the best burst DPS in the game and even after the burst phase they're still pretty darn significant. Between the off-scout having increased Dexterity scores thanks to Swiftness, the use of a bow as a stat slot/extra weapon and the elites have always been pretty consistent in making the class combo both dynamic and immensely powerful.

This just goes as far as making sure you don't get killed in one shot. Values may be a little off.
Hall of Survivors (55) - minimum HP is somewhere around 10k
Origin (55) - not sure
Zurhidon Stronghold (55) - minimum HP is somewhere around 13k
Hall of the Demon Lord (55) - minimum HP is somewhere around 14k
Dungeon of Dalanis (57) - minimum HP is somewhere around 16k
Warnorken Arena (58) - minimum HP is somewhere around 18k
Raksha Temple (60) - not sure, probably somewhere around 24k

Here's a trick I learned works rather nicely. Besides the blatantly obvious selling of dog meat out of the Inferno Gardens (which at 58 you're going to have a bit of a tedious time farming) I've seen a lot of people selling crimson and glorious stats like nobody's business. Be sure to have your calculator handy though, because not all of them are really worth the cost going in. Once you have enough gold to buy a Purified Fusion Stone through another player's diamonds (about.. 1 million gold I think these days?) go ahead and get one, be sure to do your dailies and minigames (Goblin Games in Aslan Valley, Malatina's in Varanas are usually enough to keep me stocked) and shoot for as many Phirius Shells you can every single day. Trade those in for Glorious stat pieces at the Phirius Shell merchants (Plate is best for money-making) and be sure to get the ones requiring 250 shells. From there, note name of stat and if you have Advanced Auction House, look it up for pricing. Pop the stat on a stone and sell it for market value. You should usually make somewhere between 1.5-3 million each time in profit.

Again with the Purified Fusion Stone thing. Those become an absolute necessity after a while. Right now at 60 I'm running on gear that has two VERY bad stats each and 4 that are worthwhile. I can manage content pretty easily, but it's a matter of being smart about your tactics. As a rogue I'd recommend per 6 stats (assuming yellows count as 2 here, since they kinda do) having mostly dex and stam on your stat list, say.. 3 dex, 2 stam and 1 physical attack (since it's REALLY hard to stack 4 dex and still not have much trash). Then again I don't have the most experience playing rogues, so I may not be the best to ask there.

Pick-up groups don't happen very often unless they're farms for instances that have effectively turned into jokes. The Dungeon of Dalanis is one such case, and to my immense surprise I've seen a lot of people doing Raksha's Temple more and more, but from what I hear (having never been in RT myself) it's something to be afraid of. The trouble with running instances is that you really have to know how the people you're running with well, run. If you don't know how well to trust your healer for instance, and don't know how far is safe from them to still be affected by their AoE healing (be it Group Heal or Mother Earth's Fountain) you're going to be up the creek without well, your life. Guilds help in that it gives you a regular group to run with, allows you to know the people and how they do what they do best. Non-guild runs have no such trust factor.
