Is a big undertaking to move one character to another.

I think its something like this...

People are given unique ID's per character on each server... so take this for example;

glom ID - 1 (indigo)
dimmie ID - 1 (Grimdal)

They have the same ID's so someone would get overwritten. Supposedly they had a system in the works to make switching characters available... but not sure anymore.

I am all for the Grims coming over to our world.. however the Gm's and forum leaders keep saying it cant/wont be done. My guess is the work does not = the reward for them. Would kinda be nice to get an honest answer like that.

sure. you can fork over the dough to runewaker for the tech froggy needs to even offer the idea and then convince them that the 200 total active players will be able to make them a profit off of it. Even when we had a thousand people looking for merge a year ago there wasnt even a single freaking whisper of it from their side. why would they do it now? i hate to rain on the parade (yet again, as this has been addressed on the forum multiple times yet never actually by an employee) but if they ever do somehow miraculously offer a paid service merge, i will happily admit im wrong, and happily merge and come kick some azz. might be able to get a full raid for tosh hm with the collective endgame of both servers. at the rate people are quitting im still not sure :/ ...its a bit too late for a merge haha

Not only do i not think a Server merge is economically plausible but i also unnecessarily capitalize the word Server compulsively.

but no really i don't want a merge, indigo and grimdal have totally different communities, grimdal is cold and hard and i like it that way, i don't care if im the last person on the server, ill still be standing here. and ill love it because i won. but your more than welcome to roll a toon over here i would be more than happy to put you in a PK III and roll you all the way back to indigo ^_~ grimdal needs more pvp victims we are too OP.

This is without a doubt incorrect. Names cross-server cannot be the same for a reason. The functionality to transfer characters was supposed to be a paid service but the game designers, being the inept trolls they are, never finished implementing it. I assume this is also the issue preventing the staff form completing server merges like this request.

I mean when I stopped playing Grimdal was already a ghost town. There's no way they wouldn't have opted for a server merge over losing more players if it were in their power. You can blame the dependence on the game devs or the game devs themselves, but it's not going to do anybody any good.

Yes they can be. I have toons on Palenque and Reni named exactly the same. I don't doubt they could figure out some way to deal with the problem of people having the same name, but they probably just don't care about the game enough.

I've played other well known mmo's (not wow, wouldn't touch that pos) that did server mergers and when two toons had the same name they gave the moving player an additional letter at the end of the name. IE, Borella is on RENI and wanted to move Borella from Artemis, the Artemis toon would be named Borellax. That would solve the overwriting issues, they could give the moving players 1-3 days to rename their toons on the new server or be forced to keep the rename they were given.

And yes I also have toons on every server with the same as my main just to chat with guild leaders about issues so they would recognize my name.

Ok, that must have been a different game I was thinking of. It has been a long time since I logged in, and ages since I made a character. But I still think the ID's wouldn't matter. It would be extremely easy to make a script that edits any that need to be changed. I've actually written a program for one of my programming classes where we solved that problem. So I can vainly say ALL programmers know how to do it.

My apologies for the misinformation above.

And for any who care, FYI, I played their new game Eligium and it royally blows. They can't tell me it's cause they're spending money and time on that one. LOL

They're not spending money on that one at all - they shut it down whilst it was still in Beta. Probably cos it was utter garbage!

Type in /join World World. That is the main channel on Grimdal, and you are bound to meet new people. But don't try the beginner areas most people on server are lvl 50+.

Barricadex the major gimp warden of Grimdal--> W/WD/R 80/80/50 <-- LF Somebody to have babies with, so I can Populate Grimdal.
