What....happend?

I'm just returning from not playing for a year, get on, join a guild, and the leader tells me the server is "dead". Why did everyone leave? What happened?

Well it's a bloody lists to things happen and yea. Players population is Declincing , but there's hope for OSHA yet! Why, because "you" came back. Now OSHA population

Frogster had, for the second year in a row, another horrible birthday event. They promised us tons of things and we got screwed over and it pissed off a ton of people.

And just when the game was starting to pick back up.

Now as you can see, almost no one is left. Sure a new chapter was just released, but that is drawing almost no one back in.

Probably the two worst events (that I'm aware of) over the past year are:
1. Inflation hit the economy hard (that was last summer as I recall).
2. The Database debacle in October that wiped out hordes of chests and was handled very poorly.

Beyond that it's just players moving on to other games. Hopefully new players will come in to replace those and some of those that leave will come back to try out new content. Based on how many afk at night in SJF I'd say Osha's population has been holding steady for a few months now. The lower level zones are fairly empty (though they've been a bit more active of late with all the new dwarfs running about), but that's mainly due to most of the population being 50+ in level.

I'm lvl 59 with not even fully stated gear, and the chap 4 stats. I feel so noobish now that I discovered the weapon seller in Obsidian. FULLY FREAKING STATED GEAR. For 3 puries and about 75-100k. Where in the WORLD will you find gear that cheap?

I think it's funny when pve players talk about dead servers and inflation. Complain to me when you have a HARD TIME buying dias for 100k per, and when you can count the number of people online with your fingers and toes. Our dias used to be similarly priced about 2 years ago. You want to see a REAL dead server, try Grimdal or Indigo xP

Price of diamonds doesn't dictate how populated a server is. Osha had 100k diamonds about a year ago, and it was surely a bit more populated back then.

I never implied that it did :) 100k was the inflation bit, and counting people so easily was the population bit. regardless, population of server may not be DICTATED by dia prices directly but it is without a doubt strongly correlated. i know at least that if prices of dias on my server dropped significantly, people would stick around or come back.
