I think the people it bothers the most are the ones that took time out of a busy life to play a game. Just because people are upset doesn't mean its at rom. But its not like they can go to the hackers form. I think everyone should be allowed to express what ever opinion they have. And not have to get a backhanded insult.

I would be surprised if they didn't offer compensation. There are times when people ask for compensation for things like a 1 hour extension on a weekly maintenance and don't get it, but pretty much every time that there has been a significant crisis--and especially when a roll back is involved--they have given compensation. Whether or not you believe they've given adequate compensation is another topic, but it's probably safe to say that US players will get something once the issue has been sorted out.

Assuming that all the recent issues are related, it would be unwise for Gameforge to keep their communities updated with specific details of their work. If you're trying to kick hackers out and keep them out, you don't publicly post how you're doing it. The reasons why should be obvious; I sincerely hope no one will make me write a second post to explain. >_> If you want updates in regards to taking servers offline and when they may be back up, keep an eye on the forum and social sites because they've been posting such updates since they started taking action.

Didn't they do double exp for a couple weekends in a row last time? But that rollback was more extensive than this one if i remember. It would be nice to get a few 1 mil exp orbs though. Most likely daily resets.

We maybe down for 24+ hours now but also remember how far we got rolled back better be fixed and Artemis server getting something - My guess is we will be down till maintenance

Monday, July 1st 2013, 2:35am

With how fast they usually bring it back online. I really want to know what all went wrong and what they are doing to fix it. And not in that i demand a answer kind of way. Just in the I am curious kind of way. I really hope they are really digging in there to get out the duped items and gold. In return we get a server that all the npcs work on. Thats what i hope we get.

Go read the TOS - I'm sure there's some bits in there that would surprise you. Then, come back here and moan about how unfair they are so I can point out the similarity to almost all other games TOS too.

Love it so you guys can quote and stand by these TOS, but when it actually comes to consistently enforcing them it's a different story and we should just shut up and deal with it. The bottom line is your lazy negligence has brought this on all of us, had u of upheld the terms of service and stopped all of this behavior from the beginning we wouldn't have this problem, but no u let people rule WC saying appalling things, u have allowed people to behave in manners that were against the TOS and now u want us to read them so it can back up your tech, forget it. You guys brought it on yourself, so let it be frustrating for u, we have been dealing with these degenerates for months now, so guess it's your turn

As a customer of the game, I expect communication from them that takes place as a dialogue, not just a random CM popping up with a link to a different topic. If my cable went out, and my cable company said, "We'll let you know when we'll be back" and then I hadn't heard from them in over 18 hours, I would be cancelling my cable. If I asked questions like, "Am I getting a refund of the on demand movie I bought but couldn't watch" and got silence from their end, I would be cancelling my cable and disputing the charges on my credit card. I bought diamonds, therefore I am a paying customer. I expect the line of communication between vendor and consumer to be open with answers to questions.

This is a social media age. I can post from my phone. If someone asks me a question, I can respond back in a timely manner, even if it is from my phone. I'm not expecting specific details about what they are or aren't doing. But many have asked questions like, "Are we being compensated for time lost?" and, "What are you going to do about those that spent diamonds and lost the equipment/cash shop item in the roll back?". None of the CM's are answering anything and it is disheartening to say the least that none of the people associated with the game care enough about the game or the community to respond to these questions.

And I hardly call it updating when we only hear on Facebook once a day when this isn't just some little problem, and we hardly ever hear on here other than that one post to the Login Issues post. This is not how proper customer service is conducted and it really shows why people get frustrated and leave and as to why the game is dying a slow death.

This isn't the first time RoM has ignored us. How many of us have complained about the SAME 4 dog meat bots on Artemis? How many of us can name them? It's sad that they don't use their own ToS but expect us to.

Yes, this is "just a game", but to some of us, it's what we enjoy doing, so we pump money into their pockets. I'm disabled, I can't leave my house very often or for long periods of time. I get great joy in being able to interact with some of you in the game. "Get a life"....if I were able to, this is the last place I would be, but it isn't always the case for all of us. Some of us only get to play and have fun in the game certain days/times and when the game is down for close to 48 hours with only two updates, yes, it makes us angry. For some this game is a way to escape the stresses of everyday life. Or to take a break from the craziness that goes on in life daily. To some, there simply isn't anything else we would rather do.

Just saying....

<snip>

Considering the amount of work being done--and please understand that if i knew the actual depth of that work I still couldn't tell you--you should be happy with whatever information is being passed along. I know that sounds cold and heartless, but that's the way it is. It's possible that further down the line, some sort of more complete explanation will be offered.

Just remember that as a Mentor, I too am a "customer of the game". Having said that...

Again this is going to sound cold and heartless, but lower your expectations regarding "official" communications about what's going on, what's being done, and how long it's going to take. If Neny constantly bugs the people who are trying to get things fixed, all that does is slow them down, delay the fixes, and gains no one any more or new information.

I cannot nor will not say anything about "compensation" for time, levels, or in-game items lost due to Artemis being rolled back. That subject is far above my pay grade (which is unpaid). If you happened to have purchased diamonds just prior to the rollback, open a ticket with Support about it. Rollback or not, they should have a record of your diamond purchase.

Kalvan, whilest this do be one o the few timers me doth agrees wit yer, the amount o communication from Gameforge be terrible at best description. Havin the server down fer several days, they could at least have givin us an update sayin, "we be tired, tis night here, we be goin ter our hammocks. See yer on the morrow." Or somethin like that. Me agrees that we no should realistically expect updates every hour, but somethin more than what we got twould be more realistic from the consumer's point o view.

Your compensation....higher dia prices as players like me that use to buy diamonds will now be reluctant (supply and demand). You brought this on yourselves people of artimus.....While you all now claim, you knew elusive and the M/B were hacking......none of you filed tickets or said anything. The fact that many hacked tier 12 weapons exist in the game, makes it even more reluctant for me ever to legitimately buy diamonds...and the fact that the elusive crowd says they ill be back in 30 days makes diamond purchases unlikely by any legit buyers to sell on AH

Some done did file tickets, from the very beginnin (not me, btw), others hast filed tickets very recently. In fact, their first toons on Artemis done did get a ban.... they had new toons in two-three days (that be when some o us more trustin players started ter get suspious).

While the player yer mentioned tisn't the one who culminated this mess, they were the one who done did start it. But as players, tis hard ter do anythin bout it, wit no evidence. This all be in Gameforge's lap. They be the game police who failed, an continue ter fail. These players be loggin in, still exploitin (they seem ter like ta play wit words, I dunnoes iffn "hack" tis the right one fer em), an promisin that they twill be back ingame on their main toons in 30 or 15 days. So sad.

Well if they did really only get a 30 day ban for all they have done, it is pretty sad and lame. You just opened the door to every loser who can download those programs from the internet to mess up the game even more. The people who did this are not here to play the game at all, they do not care about it.

Elusive guild castle was wrongly obtained, not legit at all, but trying to make people believe it was. We at Disturbed have been working hard to get all 2nd upgrades for it, getting buildings to level VI and VII, buff towers to Level IV, now gathering rubies 560K of them slowly every day in andor. We have been at it for 3 years now, we have our gatherers of all our guildies to help, we have people from endgame guilds that send stuff to help every week, we even try others to get 2nd upgrade.

No way we could get those 3rd upgrade in a day, simply impossible except by hacking and we do not do that. The amount of mats and rubies are astronimical.

I'm just sad and mad that Gameforge didn't come out and said flat out that they got permaban and castle removed. Just like that player in LOL that was suspended from tournament for a year for being a bully to others in game. For that reason i believe they should get permaban.

""You ca not say who filed tickets and who did not you are not the support staff. ""

point understood...but why I may not be using exact words correctly..my point is still valid

I was ridiculed...even in W/C for my opposition to the elusive crowd...that they were bad for RoM and bad for the players because of their hacking....everyone ridiculed me for not having proof....DiD I really need proof to say that M/B was NOT the Simon Vaughen of Apple...that something really smelled fishy about their whole set-up?

Now some may doubt me that no one that bought legit diamonds, as myself, will be all that willing to ever do so again....get ready for diamond prices to be 80-100k...theirs your compensation :/....you can doubt me as not having proof, the proof will be in the pudding so to speak :/ and again people of artimus again I say you brought this on yourself, for the community apathy.

I'm sorry, but as a spokesperson for this company did you really just tell me to "lower my expectations" as a customer????? What the hell kind of messed up company is this?? Look, not a damn one of us wanted hourly updates, nor did we want tech info on what the sorry sacks that you have running this game were technically doing. All we wanted was to be reassured that someone was doing what they could. My freaking gawd you people are the worst sacks of crap I have ever encountered. You will NEVER get a single dime from me or anyone I know ever again....

smdh, lower my expectations, how about YOU guys lower YOUR expectations of making any more money.....

I play many RPG's, the latest of which, DIII, has the least problems. The problem seems to be the MMORPG hackability. The long term maintenance could easily be attributed to the previous owners, a hidden code or such that has just surfaced. It could also just flat out be hacking. I do have to agree that more should be said. Has GF not hired a PR person? I need a job! :missilelauncher:

Sorry, had to reduce the size of your rant up there. It was taking up expensive real estate. :D

You're either rather new here or are an old-timer using an alt account. I don't know, nor do I really care. But let me 'splain a couple of things to you.

First, I'm a Mentor. That means I'm a RoM player who has has agreed to volunteer to help the paid staff manage the forums. I do not get paid to do this, it comes out of my free time and, whether you believe me or not, my enjoyment of this here game. I've been a volunteer here for over three years.

There are things that both the unpaid and paid staff can and are allowed to make public. There are things which the unpaid staff are not allowed to reveal (presuming that we actually know about them) due to something called a "non-disclosure agreement". I presume you know what those are. And then, there are things the paid staff either are not unable or unwilling to reveal. In the case of "what's being done" about the Recent Unpleasantness, I'm pretty sure that it's a combination of both--proprietary information and a lack of "need-to-know" on the part of our regular members. And there are data protection rules and laws that we must follow.

You, among others, have asked, no, demanded that regular updates be handed out like candy. Sorry, but that's not likely to happen, and for various reasons. Mentors, such as myself, do not have the information to give out. The paid staff, both public (FM and CMs) and private (GMs and our tech people) are busy. If there's a development that can be passed along, it will be.

In defense of Kalvan, he does his best, aggravating him will get you nothing at all. They tie him to a chair and tell him what he can and can't say, he is not a paid employee and he tries his best ;-).

Do not take out your anger on the guys on the forums, take it on the morons who hacked the servers, they are doing all they can, i am sure of it. Might be flaws in the program, well i am pretty sure all programs have that, but not every single moron will try to be an arse on them. When you see losers trying to say we did it for the good of the community, screw them, they did it to piss everyone off and they did. Those players are probably here for siege only and never in game to help others and have fun.

You see people like [redacted] who never leveled, never learn his classes or toons, come to the servers to get attention, oh btw he did that on other games too.

So they are doing the best they can with the crap that landed on their lap to get everyone in game with no missing items. I'd take a week off if it meant getting my stuff back.

IT WAS NOT THEIR FAULT!!!! Hackers and i mean real one, not those that get pre-maid program on stingy website to look cool and all, the real deal, those that were here before this WWW was created, these guys can get anywhere, anytime and do anything they want, those guys you do not want to mess with. They wouldn't lose their time with a game like ROM, come on lol.

But those little kids that got their virus, files infected little programs to make everyone mad, well i am sure they will get what is coming to them, Knock, knock.

Patience is a virtue to those who wait ;-)

BTW we have a few transfuge from Indigo and Artemis in our guild and they are leveling up and getting help to do so, we are not perfect but we do help others the best we can ;-)

Kalvan

I hope you dont think all of us are just blaming you or anyone connected remotely to rom management

You are volunteering your time, for free as you said, for the good of the game, and i as 1 appreciate that....im not trying to just score brownie points, i really sincerely appreciate that as i am an old timer as you guessed on another, with much $ invested in rom legitimatly

Many here have asked the game be permanently fixed, i really doubt that is possible, since runewalker seems to have coded the game to be client side based at times, not server side...i have no idea whether a fix there is feasible to gameforge.

We all knew...or shoulda known this is the case, ive said before, which makes many angry here, we as a community at least share some of the blame...you guys with your hands out to rom ..at least share some of the blame for your silence or worse participation

You as a mentor tho Kalvan...we seriously need a favor from you....which is perma-ban for the main toon involved, MB, and if possible his accomplices, the fact they will just be back in 30 days will seriously damage this game again.
As it is i ill never spend one dime again if i see his toon in game ever again, and most share my feelings im sure, so please your choice gamester, and please consider it?
