Looking for honest feedback on possible return

Hey everyone. After a long (3 years?) break, I am thinking about coming back to RoM. I played an end-game (ish) S/W then W/R in Dawntreaders and Heretic and generally had a great time. The main reason I left was that I thought the population on Reni had made if difficult to get groups going and left me doing things like dailies for TP only, silly contests for AM's so I could get what often ended up being an iffy stat, and a little chit chat with a few guildies who were on. SW was fun, but often broken to the point that it was impossible to enjoy (repeated disconnections, invisible towers, etc). It had gotten stale, so I figured I would call it a career.

All that said, I do miss playing and have not found another MMO that has captured my interest in the same way that I RoM did (although Neverwinter is quite cool). I know the game has changed by leaps and bound and I have tried to do as much catching up as I can, but hoping some of you can shed some light on a few things:

1. What is the population of low-level players on Reni? I'm not sure my old account even exists and will likely start fresh even if it does.
2. New races, classes = new starting zones I assume, but does the trail still lead to the same basic areas...I think 65 was cap when I quit and I don't remember the zone or dungeon, but 1st boss what a jack in the box thing.
3. How is leveling? When they introduced 3rd class, they also introduced what amounted to a speed leveling zone. They also seemed to have 2x XP every other weekend almost. Is it still reasonably non-grindy to level up?
4. What are tlhe realities of getting to end game now? When I left, you pretty much had to have tier 10 weapons and tier 5 (if not 6) gear. Is it tier 12 and tier 7 now?? The cost/time was pretty overwhelming back then.

Sorry for the wall of text, but keep in mind that this is my first post in 3 years....so just imagine it was spread out over all that time...average is only a few words per month.

can't tell you, as my main is not on reni, but i have an alt i have been playing around on, and so far have seen a good number of lower levels characters...whether they are alts or not, i don't know, but there seems to be a good many people questing in the old zones(relatively)...

2. New races, classes = new starting zones I assume, but does the trail still lead to the same basic areas...I think 65 was cap when I quit and I don't remember the zone or dungeon, but 1st boss what a jack in the box thing.
well, we not have dwarves...they get their own starting area, but like the elves, go to the main continent at lvl 11ish...

btw, lvl 65 cap was grafu castle, with first boss cayus :P
3. How is leveling? When they introduced 3rd class, they also introduced what amounted to a speed leveling zone. They also seemed to have 2x XP every other weekend almost. Is it still reasonably non-grindy to level up?
well, it is good and bad. it does level you faster, but it has just made a whole bunch of high lvl people who have no idea what they are doing, as there are no instances, nor even really many boss kills, between lvl 1 and 50 leveling that way...after lvl 52ish, you are back to the old zones, but most do dailies until they can go to thunderhoof hills.

can be argued that you can still learn the game starting at lvl 50, but i disagree...
4. What are the realities of getting to end game now? When I left, you pretty much had to have tier 10 weapons and tier 5 (if not 6) gear. Is it tier 12 and tier 7 now?? The cost/time was pretty overwhelming back then.
pretty much. if anything, it has gotten more expensive....i have played low-midgame for years now, and i greatly enjoy it. point is, play however you have fun, but if you want to shoot for endgame, be prepared to either fork over a bunch of money, or a bunch of time...

to answer question #1 to my knowledge on reni most of the players i see every day are lvl cap so for reni i dont think many of them talk if so and when running around o dont see very many in the lower zones and as to endgame its still t10 for the most part level cap is 82 right now and will soon be 85 with nxt patch id assume for the PoM (proof of myth idk if it was around that long ago) endgame guilds mostly control that the world boss's drop them and they farm so somewhat of monopoly for the orange stats but there are still great shell gear and elemental energy of justice which gives you the ability to grind for stats may have to buy some gear off the ah and the general ammount of gold youd need to make one engame piece of gear (for me at least) would prolly be around 100-150mil depending on what the price for the stats on ah are and if i dont wanna farm some of them and for leveling well i havent seen a double exp in a loooong while but as long as you dont get to uneven on exp for ur two class's (i wouldnt get a third untill your first two are decent) quests get you where you need to go as long as its not to much on one side and uh game still takes a good amount of time to get endgame so yea and if you come back welcome to RoM :bday:

#1 Low level population is low because leveling to above 50 is so easy now. If you're really interested, you can pay a player to "power-level" you in ToSH. It's quite easy, and level 50 comes within 30 mins. Prices vary. Tosh is the level 70 instance. More info can be found on forums, I'm sure, or in game.

#2 Yes, there are new starting zones for the Dwarf classes. Elf classes and Human classes still start in their respective zones. These all lead to the same end quest line.

#3 Sadly, Double XP generally only comes when Gameforge does something wrong, or messes up. Uhmm they may have one for Christmas/New Years, who knows.
Reference #1 for quick leveling tips. Power leveling in ToSH, I believe, is faster than questing until about level 70. Level 82 cap at the moment.

#4 Endgame is very feasible. Takes work if you don't plan on buying tons of diamonds. My top DPS guildies, and Heretic members have t11 weapons, and at least t7/t8 gear. Healer is definitely the least expensive class to gear and maintain. DPS, as always, is the luxury class. It takes lots of resources to stay viable every chapter, or "patch" as Gameforge calls them now.

Cheers!

Well, tried it today for a few hrs. Got to level 15/10 the old fashioned way. It is sure lonely in silverspring, haha. Literally saw one other player the entire time, so I guess my idea of a lowbies leveling together and struggling through FA isn't going to work.

Anyone see Nyxx play anymore? If so, I'll try to track him/her down over the next few days. Maybe rebuilding one of the old toons is the way to go.

Thanks for help and advice today guys...it was fun to be back!

Welcome back Lucabrasi (if im not mistaken, the nyyx part kinda gives it away). I remember you left a bit after I joined and we started pushing ToSH. Can't say much for the game, I've quit myself due to various reasons (probably some of the same you quit for back then). From what I saw Heretic is doing well, so if you haven't already, you should come back home.

As for the gear you used to have...i think nyyx..well, its prolly gone lol.

made me lol, to this day nobody is 100% sure if Nyyx was a dude or a chick.

Heya Raves....Yeah, beating my head against the walls in ToSH is about the last thing I remember...people probably duo it now, lo

I'd be pretty disappointed if that gear wasn't long gone by now, I hope nyxx dumped it while it was still worth something. After a day back though, even a naked lvl 70 sounds pretty good compared to questing my way back!

See ya round...

Well, Jenny Giant takes 5 people, so hard to duo. :)

Hi, Luca. I am one of the few remaining DT veterans around. Kossta still plays once in a while, Lliandra too. Soriya is active, so is Wrath. But most of DT is gone and guild itself is dead. I keep a few alts there and am the only one logging into it. Nyyx, as mentioned, is gone, so is Spyt, Bloodbunny, Loccsta (although his toon is in play, passed to someone else), Balls, Ephe, Jamsey, etc.

Heretic is still endgamer guild and some of the regulars are still around (i.e Elvie). Others, like Sadakko or Aelka, are gone.

I would suggest powerleveling if you get in with a guild that remembers you, such as Heretic. While it is bad idea for new people, you were one of those people who had good grasp on game and on your class, and even long absence should not erase that completely.

Likewise most decent guilds will help with either hand me down gear or with making new gear. Stats that are quite a bit better than Tosh are dropping from world mobs so they are easy to get and to make yourself something that would last you for quite a bit as you level up.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.
