A Rock for Christmas from GF?

This is my first and very likely only post in these forums. I have very few opinions & in general I doubt they have much objective value, so
I try to keep them out of other people's faces. But at last GF has managed to provoke me to action, as I do believe that all that is necessary for evil to triumph is that good people do (or say) nothing.
Now I entertain no illusions as to the lifespan of this thread - GF is smelling more & more like a desperate totalitarian regime on the brink of collapse, intolerant of dissent, muzzling critics with the speed of a hyper-vigilant paranoiac.
A few days ago I noticed that on a couple of my toons my dailies would not stay done. I thought it was odd, but hey, it's the Christmas season, maybe it's a little extra something for the beleaguered population of RoM still holding out hope this game can survive. I emphasize 'little' because a couple dozen extra dailies is pretty trivial, as evidenced by the fact that I gave it a very low priority - I knocked out a few when it was convenient, and I certainly could have taken much more advantage of it than I did. If you're prepared to make the effort & spend the time necessary to do another set of dailies, well have at it!
Now I discover I'm to be 'punished' for accepting that windfall by having those accounts suspended, in yet another sad example of the new style of sociopathic corporate mindset, externalizing liabilities, careless of their impact on the environment, punishing customers for their own sloppy software management & ineptitude.
But wait! What's this in the mailbox of another toon of mine? A gift from Santa? Or is it a mistake, an artifact of sloppy coding that I will be inconvenienced for if I derive some benefit from it? Will years of investment in this virtual world go up in digital smoke if I accept? I simply can't be sure now, can I?
Legally GF really hasn't much of a leg to stand on. They can be likened to a dopey old rich guy blundering down the street with a hole in his pocket from which a steady stream of coins is leaking, and we players to hapless children scooping up the coins & buying ourselves some
penny-candy treat with them. Is the dopey old rich guy entitled to exact a punishment on the children, when in his selfish rage he discovers his carelessness, and that his coins cannot be retrieved, having have been exchanged for a bit of childish glee? In the real world, obviously not. In this virtual world, that increasingly seems to be more about its own self-serving bureaucracy than its patrons, 2+2 can equal 5.
That said, clearly a line must be drawn. Taking advantage of the software vulnerability that allowed players to duplicate resources is obviously an act of conscious, willful & intentional cheating & should be dealt with by the harshest possible sanction. But that was sought out, pursued & taken advantage of with malicious intent, it didn't simply fall into anyone's lap, as did the daily resets.
Given the steadily dwindling server population, I encourage whoever made the decision to suspend the accounts of those who took advantage of this trivial glitch, as it's now clear that's what it was, to rescind those suspensions before even more otherwise law-abiding virtual citizens give up altogether and finally leave you to arbitrarily boss each other around in your repressive little domain. If you would rather RoM die than allow such minor & mostly unwitting transgressions to go unpunished, well, I do believe your wish is just a few more bad decisions away.

Endless dailies is not a trivial glitch. :) I noticed this glitch, and if I had partaken in it, logically knowing that it wasn't meant to be, it would have been more than fair for them to give me a vacation. As for the comparison between this glitch and Xmas mailbox presents, which were announced, that's kale and oranges. :)

The experience bonus was not announced, I just happened to notice I was suddenly getting double the advertised amount; should I have simply stopped questing in case this was an unintentional glitch? And triviality is a subjective value; implying that YOUR assessment of such a condition is inherently superior ("logically knowing that it wasn't meant to be") is rather conceited, to put it diplomatically.

Trust me, while you may have taken part in the glitch unknowingly or knowingly, and done some largely time consuming dailies, many others did not. They would use the fastest daily they could find, which takes maybe a minute to complete all 10 of (and it's in the lvl 80 zone, so decent xp/tp), and then they would use the glitch. Accidentally using a glitch would not have caused you to get banned, I believe, but forums is not a place for discussing bans. Support is. However, it is these people that were abusing the glitch that caused the fairly large banhammer to strike down.
Also, Gameforge does not do the programming, that is Runewaker. I'm fairly certain that they've been nudging Runewaker to fix the siege war times (as they're still messed up), dailies not resetting (cause that's happening to people randomly), as well as the daily glitch. However, I believe that in their minds, the first two are more important to push Runewaker to fix, as they affect all players equally or randomly. While, yes, the daily glitch may seem a trivial matter, but how would you feel if you didn't know of the glitch and a group of people did the glitch to get insane amounts of talent points that they didn't have even a day before?

EDIT: The double xp was announced. Look in News & Announcements under the thread title Winter Events. EDIT of the EDIT: Here's the link to the announcement for the double xp.

"("logically knowing that it wasn't meant to be")" - Have you ever known dailies to be able to be reset without a daily reset ticket without using a glitch? I haven't, and I played during the previous daily reset glitch.

"("logically knowing that it wasn't meant to be")" I agree it was probably something dealing with trying to fix the time problem. As for logic, which is more logical? Endless dailies without daily resets, which are a huge moneymaker for the company, or that it wasn't intended? :)

The one thing I agree with the poster on is that length of ban really should depend on how it was abused, and if it was minor abuse, possibly no ban at all.

Alrighty, let's take 'em one at a time ;-)
I know GF simply leases the right to run the game software from RW, but I strongly suspect it was a mistake in GF's implementation or management of the software that caused the glitch; given RW's spotty history I wouldn't be too surprised if I'm mistaken. I doubt either of them have enough respect for us to explain what happened, let alone take responsibility.
The fact that players took advantage of a MISTAKE on the part of either party does not make the players culpable. It was THEIR error, their lack of expertise that brought it about, and THEIR lack of supervision that allowed it to continue for however long it did. To punish their customers for the results of their errors is contemptuous and reprehensible; they should have simply fixed the problem & sucked up whatever minor damage resulted. Better still to have prevented it by due diligence or failing that, caught it more quickly.
As for the double xp event you're quite right, it was posted the day before it began. I suppose I'm accustomed things of such magnitude being announced on the splash page, where apparently enticements to buy diamonds take precedence. While the fact that I missed it is entirely my fault, the fact remains that when it began I had no idea whether it was intentional or not, just as I had no way of knowing the daily reset was intentional or not. To imply that I should known is specious; I'm playing a game, I don't dedicate much time to wondering if some advantageous event was part of the management's plan. I did note that I thought it was odd at the time, but it's certainly not a customer's responsibility to make sure the price tag on the vase they buy is correct. That's the vendor's responsibility, and to hunt down a customer afterward and demand reparations is absurd.

Well for me if you have people do 400 to let's say 800 dailies per day for 1 week during the glitch and then claim not to be responsible for the occurance of the issue, well kinda hard to believe. When you have 10 dailies that will give you 720K TP X 400 = 288M for their class let's say per day, so in one week they are maxed up on one class for TP.

I personnaly have 615M TP on my knight, 380M on priest and about 100M on each of my other 3 classes over the last 5 years, i've used tons of DRT's, farming etc. When we had the first glitch i didn't use it cause i knew there was something wrong, but people got lucky cause we didn't have any GM's at the time to enforce the rules.

As they always have said: If it looks fishy, it smells fishy then don't do it or report it. Now people are mad because the rules were enforced and applied as per the TOS. People knew full well that it was an exploit, they should have reported it to support or IRC, they know full well the GM's are readily available for any issues related to the game.

I got blamed in world chat by people blaming me, swearing at me and cursing at me and my guild for their bans, i had nothing to do with it, i couldn't care less. I deal with my own actions, i got banned before, i got muted a few times from world chat etc, i didn't blame anyone but myself when it happened. Because in the end i am responsible for my account, my actions and the way i act with others. Some people should learn to take responsability for their own actions and the way they play the game.

They should have known that there would be repercussion to their actions, it's like they stole 400 DRT's per day from the item shop, at 39 diamonds each = to 15 600 diamonds per day loss in revenue. Would you like for someone to rob you of that amount ?? that is about 300$ a day of loss of revenue per account that did it at 400 daily reset glitch.

Personally i think they got off easy and i would be happy the GM's were lenient with them and luckily, they will still be able to get into the XP/TP event if it was a 9 day vacation as per one of them said in world chat.

As this is technically discussing bans on the forums, and discussing glitches, I will have to close this thread down.

As it is, if you have been banned, support is the only way that you can be helped. Discussing glitches or bans on the forums is against the rules, no matter what you think of us. That's for your protection and mine.

I urge you to contact support to find out exactly why you were banned. The forums is unfortunately not a place that it can be discussed.
