Whats the community like?

To be honest I've played on and off a few times but never really got far into the game until a friend of mine convinced me to play with him just recently. But I cant seem to figure out the community on here or if there even is one. I mean I see a few stray people so I know people play. but when i try to figure out how popular it is or what people over all think its near impossible to figure it out. Other than some group making the game sound so bad that i may wanna reconsider playing only to say there isn't much for people playing anymore.

The game itself is a good game. I'm not familiar with Artemis, but best thing is usually to find a guild, and in your case, new player friendly. Posting in these forums should get a few answers. Ignore the housing debate, which really shouldn't affect new players much initially.

On a side note, if the old tutorial is still being used, I'd recommend the company change it. I found it to be somewhat childish many years back and after doing the tutorial initially, stopped playing because I thought the game might be aimed towards a younger audience.

You'll definitely want to find a guild and also join the free world chat channel. I believe it is /join trade on Artemis. Guild and free world channels are where you'll see the majority of the players, since most players are max level.

Also, Les, if it's the one where you need to attack those spiders..... then yes they are. However, if you're a dwarf, it won't give you the option to do the tutorial until you visit the spawn point when first creating a human char in Pioneers Colony. Thus, you can get that OP 20% buff as a lvl 90 xD

Artemis is "/join Trade" and "/join trade" notice the "T". both channels are busy.

A good starting guild for a new players would be like Orion, or Fractured. However if these aren't a good fit for you or you progress rather quickly you could also try guilds like Vahallaguild or Tarrasque whom are both higher point guilds :)
