Server merger follow-up

Prior to the server mergers, character transfer options were discussed in the FAQ. Specifically under general question number 6, it was established that players would not be able to decide which server their characters were moved to at the time of the merger but that "After the merge, we might implement a character transfer so you can choose a server, but this will be a separate thing."

I'm posting this to ask if there has been any further discussion on this and if so to inquire where we are on that decision?

This is admittedly a self-serving post. Prior to the merger I created and leveled characters on both Govinda and Reni which obviously did not merge and I would be very interested in consolidating at least some of my characters on to the server I primarily play on.

There would clearly be overhead involved in having a support person take the time to move the chars and validate everything is good. I would imagine that this is certainly technically feasible now but they have to figure out the administrative parts:

- What level of effort is required to do the transfer? (15 minutes of someone's time?)
- How much does that LoE cost RW/GF?
- How much do they mark it up? (probably 2x)
- What effect would that have on balancing the servers?

Expect it to cost in the $25-50 range per account. I expect RTP to return as soon as this is available.

Absolutely. I'd add there would most likely need to be some conditions on moving characters such population balance and a minimum xx month waiting period before the character could be transferred again. I also agree this should come at a reasonable cost to players and not a free service. I've moved characters in another MMO - I believe the cost was $50 at the time though it has been awhile so it could have been more. Regardless the amount should have at least some significance to help manage it and prevent it from being abused.

Unfortunately all this is moot if it is not being seriously considered by GF/RW as a service they are willing to provide.

I'm happy on my server, but I know a few people who would be willing to pay for a server swap. When you take into account how much actual cash some people have into their toon, even $50 wouldn't be too much to ask.
When I first started playing I used zeevex and kept the cards in my drawer so I could easily keep track of how much I'd spent on the game. I quit doing that when I realized exactly how much I was paying....
