fantastic guide. perhaps the best articulated and organized i've seen on these forums.

i have a slide show stickied in the newbies section illustrating gear modding via mana stones. if you think it adds anything to the discussion i'd be honored to have it linked in your guide.

Thanks, nemecis. I also included your excellent guide on stat values. Hope you don't mind.

I read the durability part twice, maybe I'm missing something.

I just want to make clear, on items that naturally have a static durability of 110(or 101+), when the dynamic durability drops below 101, the 20% bonus will cease to be in effect until it is repaired again to the original static durability of 110(or 101+).

what im getting at is this; the item has 10 durability points to lose until the 20% bonus is gone.

and if you use the golden hammer on a piece of equipment with a natural static durability higher then 100(lets say 110, with the golden hammer, 220), then the 20% will still cease to be in effect after it is below 101.

just making sure, thanks, great guide btw :)

Very nice guide but I have one question.

Just started playing Runes of Magic a few days ago and have tried to install runes onto my armor. How is it exactly done? Tried left and right clicking, etc. and don't seem to be able to install them. Thanks!

Whats supposed to happen is right click on the Rune, and left click on the item you want the rune to be applied to.

Quoted

ii. Static Durability: The number on the right side of your durability rating, which never changes (80/100).

Static durability can never be changed. You can't change it permanently, and you can't change it temporarily, that's why I refer to it as static. Dynamic durability can be changed temporarily.

Make sure you actually have an open rune slot, otherwise you have to drill one first.

Thanks very much for this. Finally, a modding guide that explains everything in a coherent manner.

Ah ok so basically the static items that naturally are over 100... are just the way i have to find them to have it permanently... right?

Just making sure i am understanding this :)

It's interesting because this is one of the few guides that explicitly tells you to use three identical fusion stones when xmuting with vendor fusion stones. Most of them just say identical stats cancel out and leave it up to you to figure that out. I would say above all else it's the most important thing to know when xmuting with vendor stones.

Having said that, maybe I missed it but I don't think you mentioned how to make a "blank" mana stone by xmuting the fusion stone with an item with zero stats on it. For instance, if you take a +9 defense, +17 hp, +5 magic defense fusion stone and xmute it with a white item with zero stats present, you get a +9 defense, +17 hp, +5 magic defense mana stone. This would come into play when you want to enhance a piece of equipment with a stat (or stats) on it already that you want to keep there. Granted, this would only apply to xmuting with vendor bought fusion stones.

Anyways, good idea posting all of this, this should make things much easier on newer players.

i'm already sending my guildies to this guide when they have questions and i don't have time to explain in detail.

not sure if anyone has brought the guide to the attention of a mod. but my vote is for stickie! with big bold heading and twinkling stars or something.

Very nice guide. Thanks for bringing this to my attention nemecis! It sure deserves a stickie. I will move it to the Community Guides and Sticky section as well.
