Is this How

Ok, I have read and tried to study how to transmute a piece of equipment, but before I spend the money and charges I want to ask this specific. If I use 3 identical fusion stones (+3 sta,+3 int, +5 Phy Attck) and add each to an item that has +30 sta, i get a mana stone with +3 Sta, +3 Int, +5 Phy Attck,+30 Sta. If I repeat this step with +30 Int and +30 Wis items that then have 3 mana stones that have
+3 sta, +3 Int, +5 Phy Attck, +30Sta
+3 sta, +3 Int, +5 Phy Attck, +30Wis
+3 sta, +3 Int, +5 Phy Attck, +30Int

When I use these mana stones on an item (cape - white, no stats) I will get a cape with +30 Sta, +30 Wis, +30 Int, +3 Sta, +3 Int, + 5 Phy Attck.

Please let me know if this is the correct interpretation of the instructions, before I blow everything up.

Thanks

You got it -- that's exactly what you'll get.

I don't understand the part about tiering--to get an item to a higher tier, you have to use higher level mana stones with it, but to put stats on it, you need mana stones of the same tier?

No, you can use mana stones of a higher tier with stats -- in fact, that will happen if you get the stats from a purple item level 50+, or a blue item level 54+. They'll make T4 stones, so if you make mana stones from them, you'll need 3 T4 stones to transfer the stats. Thus the item will be T4 when you're done, with the stats you want on it.

It's when you're tiering a weapon to improve its damage that you don't worry about stats (usually), and use the highest tier mana stones you can make.

Transmuting a blank Mana Stone?

Hi...I'm kinda new to the transmuting process, but I have dabbled a bit. One question I have is; if you take a Purified Fusion Stone and put it in the Arcane Transmuter with a piece of tier 3 white gear with no stats, will you just get a tier 3 blank mana stone? I have tried with a regular Fusion Stone from an NPC, and I got the 3 original stats only. I was just wondering if it worked the same with a Purified Fusion Stone.
Also, i was wondering if if was normal, but one time I bought a Fusion Stone from the NPC in Varanas (with 2 pre-determined stats and one random). When I looked in my bag to see what the 3rd stat was, the Fusion Stone only had the two pre-determined stats and that's it. Is one of the options for random stats "nothing"? If this is the case, if you bought a "3 random stats" Fusion Stone from the NPC, is it possible to get a blank (or like Purified) Fusion Stone? I know the odds are ridiculous, but in theory, would it be possible?

Yes, you are correct, you would end up with a blank t3 stone. The reason you get three stats on the vendor fusion stone is because the stone itself already has three stats on it.

Again, you are correct, but from I understand three blanks aren't possible, and if it is, it would be so rare that spending gold on NPC stones in the hope of obtaining one would be a waste.

Looks like I need to update this guide, a lot of new and usefull information has been provided. :o

From my understanding, the "blank" is not an option. The reason a "blank" appears, is that the random stat happened to be one of the two stats that was already pre-determined.

Example:

Predetermined stats are Stam I and Int I

Random stat is Stam I

Since you cant have two stam I's, there will be one "blank" space.

Its basictly the same concept as "matching dirties" when creating gear.

Therefore, theoretically, the least number of stats on a vendor fusion stone is 1

I wanna put stats on "Wings"...Do I have to refine it first?
Do I have to tier? Whats the benefit of tiering on armor?
From what I understand all I need to do is get the advanced drill and then put any runes I want...?

Last question first -- at this time, you can't drill rune slots on wings. You also can't refine wings. But you can put up to 6 stats on them, just like any other piece of gear, and tiering doesn't matter, though you may end up with the wings at T4 as a side-effect of putting stats on them.

There is no major benefit to tiering armor, other than an increase in the defense stats of the armor. The principle is, you tier weapons for damage, you stat armor and accessories.

ok so I spoke to a few people about it, they said i need fusion stones to put into the wings...but they said i shouldnt till i hit a high level like 45 or so (currently 34) and i have no idea how to get fusion stones other then auction house. So the question is, why do i have to wait till I hit higher lvl, and where can i get fusion stones other then AH?

You can buy fusion stones from vendors in West Varanas and in Glory Square in Obsidian. But you won't have much control over the stats on them. If you buy them in the AH, you can get 2-stat stones for a reasonable price, and have room for 4 good stats on the item you're transmuting. And of course, you can get purified stones from the CS, and you also get some from your gift bags (35 and up, I believe).

The reason folks are telling you to wait is that at 45 you start getting better X-level and yellow stats. Plus by that time you'll have at least 3 purified fusion stones to use from your gift bags to put clean stats on the wings. Frankly, wings are too expensive to mess up with 2-stat stones and anything less than an X stat -- it brings tears to my eyes to see lower-level toons running around with fully-stated wings that have nothing over a VII or VIII on them.

prohibitive expense

it is kind of amazing to realize just how much the cost goes up exponentially to tier up an item with good stats....for example, it would cost over $20million USD just to buy the purified fusion stones alone, to create 1 tier 20 stone...and that is assuming that you start out with 47million pieces of tier 5 equipment containing desirable stats....

This is why folks do dirty tiering of weapons, and only clean stat gear. Otherwise I'd say you have more money then brains to clean tier a weapon to +10 let alone doing +20.. Also I am sure your numbers are off, it's probably more. How many charges to get to Tier 20? lol yea that right there is a huge money sink also.

One correction here, you get a 20% boost to your stats as long as an item is over its ORIGINAL durability, not 100 with a golden hammer. So if you hammer a 80 dura item to 160, it gets the +20% until 80 not until 100. Of course if you hammer a 120 item to 240 you get the +20% from 240-100.

Tiering stats

I read through the notes on here but didn't see any answers to my question,

I just got some wings, (the cheapest ones from ruby shop)

I don't really mind getting at least mid range level stats on them, at the moment I am having a hard time getting anything higher than 2 (i.e. stam 2) even if I combine stones up to level 3 or 4. Is there any way to get good high stats short of purified stones? What is the most cost effective way to get say 50-60 str, stamina, wisd, defense, etc on wings?

I think you are getting the idea wrong here, the good stats on mana stone are usually from the equipment which you transmuted with the fusion stone.
Purified fusion stone comes with no stats on it, therefore you have more space to put good stats on. Fusion stone from vendors comes with at least one bad stat on the stone.

As good getting good stats from equipment, go to the Auction House and search through equipment with rank X stat, green ones usually cost around 10k to 50k, depending on which stats.

I've done some looking around, I bought one purified fusion stone but at present I'm only level 22, so unless I can trade diamonds (from credit card, only way I am going to ever get any) I have no real hope of affording those X level stats anytime soon.

This was very helpful to a nooby to the game like my self, but i was wondering, and i cant seem to find it anywhere on the forums, about how to take the stats from one piece of equipment and transfer them or most of them to a new piece of equipment. Can you help me out either by explaining or pointing me to a thread that happens to tell me.

What if the item you want to add stats to already has 3 stats from previous mana stones, how would I add 3 more without losing the ones already on it?
