So taking a blue lowbie item and dirty statting it would be a bad idea then or what?

Not of it's for a lowbie.

"Dirty statting"(verb) is using the 3/2/1 stat fusion stones you can get from vendors/events to get good stats on gear cheap and effectively. The "dirty stones" which are the fusion stones can be the cheap cheap level 1 stat stones from Spirit vendors, the event stones with level 3 and 4 stats on them, or the new(ish) custom fusion stones you can get with mementos and a bit of gold(great for making cheap OP twinks/alts) The "good" stats can be the IX/X/XI stats you can by in the auction house or get as drops in high level zones, or can even be the cheap memento(or not so cheap) memento stats you can get in various high level places.

Dirty statting, is porposly using lower quality fusion stones but with good stats, to cheaply gain stats for leveling, and now with cheap memento stats, getting into level 55 instances(hoto). So using

A "dirty stat"(noun) can be any of the green stats mentioned above, but is usually in reference to an undesireable green stat that is already on a peice of purple gear. It can now even refer to an undersireable yellow stat, something that is less useful than other stats for a particular class. Most often this dirty stat came on this peice of gear. But this is really a thing of the past, since all gear in hoto+ drops with a single "clean" yellow stat. Easy mode on instances exclududed, gear in easy mode drops dirty most of the time, and is generally inferior to its normal mode counterparts, which the easy mode gear is lesser attribute versions of normal mode gear.

So in short, to dirty stat(the verb form hehe) is to use undesireable stats, usualy in the form of vendor fusion stoness to get some "quality" stats on gear for low relative cost.

EDIT: Heck I might just make an in depth guide on how to use the trasmutor to its fullest the next time we have server maintenace and I can't sleep lol.

Here's a really good guide to start people off with the transmutor. It's very basic for newcomers. http://romguides.blogspot.com/

Please note i defined the terms that would be listed in my guide in the first post, IF You are going to change them please clarify in your own posts as to not get people confused, thanks.

Click the little gear at the bottom right of the screen and a menu will pop up (same menu for rankings and set skills). Choose the rune extraction option; drop your weapon in the slot, then choose which rune you'd like to extract.

Misunderstanding

What am I misunderstanding here?

I get:
3 Fusion Stone(same)
1 Piece of gear per stone
(Go into transmutor) x3 = 3 Mana stones same tier as gear.
Then combine 3 stones with final gear = 1 good higher tier gear,
This is "dirty" statting. You pick up some low stats - up to 6.

That is sort of it, right?

Well, how do people get yellow stats? How do people get all high lvl stats IIV

I've seen mana stones with tons of stats some with few.

I went to auction house and purchased 3 t3 mana stones and put them into the AT with a piece of gear I wanted. The stats came out CRAP. If I have to use 3 of the same fusion stones to make 3 mana stones of the same stat what the heck good are mana stones in the AH?

It is not tying together?

Break it down for you into the simplest terms i know, you have the just of it yes the stats on the mana stones MUST match, however keep in mind that the Green X or XI etc stats or the yellow stats you'll be merging these fusion stones with will only fill 3 spots, and IF said piece of gear has a stat on it then the game always keeps the 6 LOWEST STATS on said piece of gear when finished, the trick when buying mana stones is to only buy ones with one or two stats on them so you dont over fill the item and lose your high lvl stats.

Yellow stats are found either from the black codex vendors for ancient mementos gained from events or running lvl 55+ dungeons, OR as boss drops in dungeons on purple gear and occasionally on epic lvl crafted gear (ie purple gear ).

This stuff is so confusing to me... but I think I understand:

  • How to do 'CLEAN statting' which has chosen HIGH YELLOW stats as illustrated HERE.
  • How to do 'DIRTY statting' which has LOW GREENS/HIGH YELLOW stats as illustrated HERE.

But what I don't understand is:
  • How do you get something statted with 4 HIGH GREENS stats, 12 High YELLOW (or 6 advanced stats), then additional 4 Green stats (or 2 advanced) as illustrated HERE (http://www.maverick1127.0fees.net/cleantiering.html) (The statted piece of equipment before the clean tiering process).

It seems like I am missing some steps or info. I have combed this site trying to figure this out and am just frustrated.

Can anyone help? Basically, I have not done any statting of gear in this game, and I am currently level 56 mage/druid working in quest gear, which is quickly becoming painful.

Thanks!
