[Video] The Arcane Transmutor: Adding Clean Stats

So, you've hit level 50 and you're ready to start adding some good stats to that shiny, purple gear you've got. Here's a video tutorial that shows you, step by step, the process of adding clean stats (clean = the exact stats you want) to your equipment.

Yes, I'm aware of this and I talk about level 55 gear in most of the episodes of the RoMCast (you should start listening ;)) . But, players will still need to know how to stat their Clops gear before they can start running HoTo to get the level 55 gear. And if you want to get technical, players should really be adding stats to their gear before they enter the Savage Lands at level 53.

Going to troll a bit here, you have a open bracket, but you never closed it. ^^
Nice vid none the less. Though there were multiple flaws such as, level you obtain the AT. Where F2P players can get Purification Stones, and I don't remember much else.

My character name is secret. Guess and you will fail.

Closed the bracket. I must have been thinking of elite skills. Added an annotation in the video about phirius tokens.

I am fully aware that you need a lot of hp to survive HoTo/Savage Land. But logically talking, if you've keyed for HoTo you should be in a guild that has a few geared 62s, so the bosses are dead before the mobs spawn. And if you have enough VIIs from HoTo or Honor points, AND imprisonments from guildies, you should be fine. Just saying this because ALL my guildies say to use puries at level 55, as dirty stating with yellows will actually get you farther than you expect. If you havent noticed in my signature, my character is Maldor from Osha and listen to the postcast weekly and ask quite a heap of questions. Just saying that dirty stating with yellow, you should get about 10k+ hp. Keep in mind I didn't mention anything about mp.

If you would like to make a tutorial video showing people how to dirty stat with yellows, I'll stick it in the guides section. I still need to make vids on how to tier items and make runes so I don't really have the time right now.

Question

Will we ever be able to get a T9 or T10 mana Stone from our item that is T9 ot T10 currently if we try to combine a puri and a T8 lvl 60 Purple we get a T4. We should get atleast a T7 from a T9 and a T8 from a T10 if not an equal stone.

Ok, I'd love to do that, so when I'm planing to dirty stat a piece of gear, I would totally be up to making a video. I could make a video on how to tier too if you want ;)

"Holy heart failure, Batman!" Where were you 22 months ago? This is the kind of information we needed back then to xmute our lvl47-48 white OD gear to survive any effort of farming instances for lvl50 gear in the end of chapter one and to survive the Weeping Coast normal quests at the beginning of chapter two (with date corrected info since we only had extremely rare green X stats and almost-as-rare dirty yellow V stats back then).

Here is to hoping the servers run better and the players cheat/hack less so you can budget more of your time on these informational videos, instead of dealing with !@#$%.

HEY dont get mad at me, I'm only lvl 54 and started playing in August (i know, I'm a slow leveler) so I might post a vid on thursday (taking a big advantage of double xp/tp) so when that end I will try to get making vids a bit higher on my priority list

What you are implying is that the process of transmuting the piece of gear with a puri should produce mana stone of the tier that has some relation to the current tier of the item. Currently it is only based on the natural tier of the gear, so any tier added to that gear is lost when it is transmuted.

It is a reasonable request. Some enhancement was added to the gear and it would be nice if the process of transmuting that gear managed to retain at least a part of that enhancement. That is not how it works, but it could make sense to make it work that way.

A request #1

Can we have a little more realistic depiction of the stat acquisition? The idea that you will buy stats from a vendor, while technically works, IS NOT how people get stats. So, a more realistic approach, with DOD stats, as well as explanation of how you run DOD and grabbed a bunch of gear that had the stats your liked would be more representative than "buy stats from vendor with mementos"

A request #2

This is a bit more complex, but what I would like to see when discussing clean transmuting is the handling of tiering while statting. It is a subject that I have not seen covered well in any guides.

Basically what I am talking about is this.

Let's say we want are making a lower level statted item. The steps will be:

1) Gear with stat A + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat A
2) Gear with stat B + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat B
3) Gear with stat C + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat C
4) Gear with stat D + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat D
5) Gear with stat E + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat E
6) Gear with no stat + Puri --> Mana Stone with no stat
7) Gear with stat F + Mana Stone with stat A + Mana Stone with stat B + Mana Stone with stat C --> Gear with stats A, B, C and F
8) Gear with stats A, B, C and F + Mana Stone with stat D + Mana Stone with stat E + Mana Stone with no stat --> Gear with stat A, B, C, D, E and F

Now, while this works, step 8 produces Tier 4 item. So, our final item might have all the stats, but it is only tier 4, and as such it is not taking full advantage of the stats and ghost stats.

What would happen if we wanted to produce a better item? We would need to tier it up. The process would then be:

1) Gear with stat A + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat A
2) Gear with stat B + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat B
3) Gear with stat C + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat C
4) Gear with stat D + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat D
5) Gear with stat E + Puri --> Mana Stone with stat E
6) Gear with no stat + Puri --> Mana Stone with no stat
7) Gear with no stat + Puri --> Mana Stone with no stat
8) Gear with no stat + Puri --> Mana Stone with no stat
9) Gear with no stat + Puri --> Mana Stone with no stat
10) Mana Stone with stat A + Mana Stone with stat B + Mana Stone with stat C --> Mana Stone Tier 5 with stat A, B, C
11) Mana Stone with stat D + Mana Stone with stat E + Mana Stone with no stat --> Mana Stone Tier 5 with stat D, E
12) Mana Stone with no stat + Mana Stone with no stat + Mana Stone with no stat --> Mana stone Tier 5 with no stat
13) Gear with stat F + Mana Stone Tier 5 with stat A, B, C + Mana Stone Tier 5 with stat D, E + Mana stone Tier 5 with no stat --> Gear Tier 5 with stat A, B, C, D, E, F.

In the process we had to use 9 puries instead of 6 and 13 charges instead of 8. We got our item to be with same stats as before, but one higher tier. The enhancements that come from extra tier would need to be weighted against the cost of 3 extra puries and 5 extra charges.

For lower level gear, that "tiering while statting" cost is probably not justified. For higher level gear it absolutely is. Most end-gamers are walking around with their gear at T6, and a few of them have pieces at T7.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

@ vfwiffo:

I will take your suggestion under advisement when I work on the tiering video. HOWEVER, my intention with these instructional videos is to give a basic understanding of how certain things in the game (like the AT) work. If I were to make a video that gives EVERY option of how to stat (both clean and dirty), and give EVERY location on where to find stats, that would ruin any of the discovery element that exists in the game (not to mention the video would be 30+ minutes long).

To learn more advance techniques (like tiering while statting), I think that players should be turning to their guildmates and/or the forum for that kind of information. Knowledge is power, I think players should have to work a little for it. :cool:
