The pet would really depend on combination of classes so it is not that easy to map.

Still, here are elements

Earth) Str, Sta, Dex
Water) Wis, Int, Sta
Fire) Int, Wis, Sta
Wind) Dex, Sta, Wis
Light) Sta, Str, Wis
Dark) Dex, Str, Sta
None) No specializations

Water is priest, Fire is mage, Dark is rogue or scout, Light is knight. Earth is probably warrior. Wind? Maybe S/P or R/P... Elves I am not sure, but you can tell if you play one which attributes you tend to go for and find the best pet for you.
-- Rustyx --- 92R / 92S / 92M on Reni (Guild KnightShift). Yes, running the new FOTM R/M, cause I am not elf enough to be WD/S.

Oh, and people who have more than 3 classes are clinically insane.

Hi, Just a question on pets.

Lets say:
lvl 1 pet A(max values) becomes lvl 2
lvl 2 pet B(max values)

will both of the pets have the same stats? or will pet A have better stats than the pet B?

The level 1 pet with maxed values will, I think be close enough to not make a difference. And since low level, near-perfect aptitude pets are almost non-existent, its a bit pointless.

The differences really come out with differing aptitudes though.

they are still there though. it will make a difference once it goes higher levels thats why I am asking that.

IIRC.

the amount a stat increases = growth * apt/100.

Not really sure what the lvl 1 stats for a pet are, but if we'll just assume it's a single growth phase, (and, from what I've heard, apt doesn't affect initial stats, it's basically random)
lvl 1 pet = 4,5,6
lvl 2 pet w/ 100 apt= 8,10,12
lvl 2 pet w/ 70 apt = 6.8, 8.5, 10.2

or the 100apt pet will have (over that 1 level) ~18% higher stats. Over the long term, assuming you don't raise the apt of the 70 apt pet, it'll have ~43% higher stats.

Ok. I am new to pets here. How important is the special ability of a pet in considering weather or not to choose one kind of pet over another? If I have one that inflicts 200.0% physical damage on target or reduces magical defense of target by 5.0% for 15.0 seconds and i am a warrior/mage is there a better choice? Should I really worry about it? I am looking for a pet that will help my warrior and therefore want an earth pet. I have read the wiki on magical pets but could use more direction on what to choose.

It's at a different time from when dailys actually reset, I think its near 12pm CST, but that's just me, I know when I was raising my pet, I'd go to bed around 5am, and wake up around 1-2pm, and it would be reset for me to merge again.

Here's a comprehensive guide to pets and merging.

Good post, but am I missing something? This is not a "complete" or "comprehensive" guide to pets.... It is just a post about merging.

As a new player I still have about 70 questions which remain unanswered. Finish your guide or change the subject to "Complete Guide to Merging Pets"...

The OP hasn't logged on in 9 months, so I doubt that will happen.

You might want to see more of a newbie guide. Two I would recommend are this complete starting from zero guide and New to intermeddiate pet owner guide

Ok stupid question time. What are you guys talking about with the gold eggs? I missed the cavy on my training attempt and I would like to get the third slot to try some merging. I read that you can turn in a gold egg and try again. Where do I get the gold egg?

*edit* after running around for an hour I found you get the gold eggs from doing the chicken quest in Miller's Ranch. Yes an hour- what do you expect from a noob? lol!
