Xeph's guide to Warden/Warrior

Intro:
I feel like it has been so long since i wrote one of these. Anyways this is warden/warrior. This is the class that is currently my main warden. After this will be lvl1-54 guide. After that idk what I'll do maybe I'll think up something new to write about. I would also like to say please do not bash about wardens, we all know they need a rebalanced.

Knowing your class:
This is Warden/Warrior. It is a warden with strong attacking abilities, but prefers to exchange the damage of the top dps wardens for some defensive skills. From what i can tell most of this wardens skills seem pvp oriented, but they do decent damage in pve as well.

The Elite Skill:

Double Chop- When i first got this i thought it would be useless, but after a while i learned to love this skill. It hits the target twice each hit dealing about 230% main hand dps at lvl50. This skill also costs rage so it saves you some mana. This skill has a 6 second cool down though.

Beast Chop- An interesting skill This will do about 320% main hand dps at lvl50 and it has no cool down or cast time. It does cost rage so you will not be able to spam it very much. When this skill hits the target your pet will get a buff increasing its patk by about 15%

Ire- This skill forcing target to fight your pet for 5 seconds. After the effect ends it resets the aggro of the mob(at least i think that is why i get aggro after i use it). This skill can be useful if you are too hurt to let a mob hit you for a while.

Restraint- This skill can be good. I find it annoying tbh, but it has saved my life in the past. If your spirit of the oak dies then you will get a buff increasing your pdef by about 35% at lvl50 for 20 second, but you may not summon him again for for 40 seconds. Since scouts in pvp tend to kill your pet first this can be helpful, so you can take a few extra hits against them.

Pulse Mastery- This skill is a huge boost to a skill you already have. It will make Savage Power increase you patk by almost twice what it used to. When maxed you get a 30% patk increase from Savage Power.

Resonance of Life- You will kill your spirit of oak in order to heal yourself by 30% and increase your max HP by 5% for 10 seconds. This is another skill i thought i wouldn't use too much, and i thought the 5% HP boost would be useless, but i use this skill all the time. You can summon Spirit of the Oak right after you use this and he keeps the 5% HP boost.

Will Attack- This is a skill that takes some getting used to. It does a good amount of damage. When you cast it you may get 1 of 2 buffs. You will pretty much have to memorize the picture for each buff, because you only have 8 seconds to use it. One of the the buffs makes it so charge chop only has a cast time of 1 second. With cast speed buffs Charge Chop feels like it is instant cast. The other buff it gives makes it so Beast Chop will do 50% more dps then before. This is a nice boost, but i much prefer the Charge Chop buff.

Coat of Arms- When you hit the target with Charge Chop or Double Chop you may get a buff. This buff makes it so all skills cost 30% less mana, and you gain rage 30% faster. This means much more use of rage costing skill since they do more damage then mana skills.

Warrior Skills:

Slash- This is a skill you can spam.It costs 25 rage. It does a good amount of damage, and puts a DoT on the target. I pretty much only use when i have extra rage and want to have DoT on boss, because I like to spend my rage on Double Chop.

Equip Axe- Does nothing since we had this ability before.

Enraged- This is a good skill for before a boss fight. It gives 20 rage and has a cool of 40 seconds. This means you will have extra rage to cast berserk.

Whirlwind- I do not use this skill very much. I don't like aoes especially when they cost half my rage bar. It does not do much damage, but since we only have a total of 2 aoes and they both only hit infront of us you may want this skill.

Berserk- I like to put this right next to Savage Power. It exchanged 36% of your pdef for patk. This is a nice boost to damage. Just keep in mind you will be squishy. It lasts for 30 seconds and has 1minute cool down.

Defensive Formation- This skill is not really good. It costs a huge % of you and everyone in the group's patk to increase everyone's pdef by a very small amount.

Brute Strength- This is just a passive that gives a large boost to your strength. More Strength means more dps.

Pets:
This class will pretty much only use 1 pet. The like to use Oak Walker for the buff, and use Spirit of the Oak as a pet.

Spirit of the Oak- Like half of your elite skills are focused around this pet. This is pretty much the only class that has a chance of making Spirit of the Oak tank. You can summon him with Savage Power, Berserk, Energy Absorb, and Resonance of Life buffs on. Then he will get a huge boost in damage from your 76% patk increase, and 10% damage increase.

Gear:
This warden likes to focuses on Stam and Patk mainly. These both will make spirit of the oak a much stronger pet. Fun to get all the temporary HP buffs you can think of and summon him with like 70k hp or so when you have about 40k. The stats this warden should use are

Str/Patk
Stam/Patk
Str/Stam
Str/Dex or Dex/Patk
Wis/Patk or Wis/Str
Stam/HP or Stam/Pdef or Stam/Wis

You will get a ton of patk and HP this way.

Conclusion:
This is not as high dps as the other wardens, but it can have higher dps for a small amount of time. The intended idea of this warden seems to be a high dps tank, but spirit of the oak will lose aggro if you go all out on your damage. Since you have so many defensive, and attacking skills this class does very well in pvp. Priests do not seem to like it when they get 1 shoted, because you cast charge chop almost instantly.

Or almost 100k if your name is Remi...have you seen her Spirit of the Oak? It is pretty scary.

I actually tend to prefer Beast Chop over Slash because the extra boost to the pet allows it to keep aggro better, and because Beast Chop only requires 20 rage instead of 25. I find that in a sustained battle I don't really have many rage issues between spamming PotWS and Beast Chop with the occasional Charged Chop (am I the only one who gets rage after using Charged Chop?) but the decrease of 5 rage is really big. I only rarely use Double Chop though, don't have enough TP right now to really try it out.

Forgot to add that I think it is like 30 seconds. I will check next time I log in and add it.

Just FYI, Enraged has no GCD.

No worries. Generally, unless it would put you over 100 rage, it's probably a good idea to use it every time it comes off cooldown (not that fights usually last long enough to use it more than once nowadays.)

Yep, when you first hit the Savage Lands Enraged makes all the difference. Going from 7k HP mobs to 20k is a huge jump that takes a little while to get used to, but I went from rarely using Enraged to using it twice per mob and it allows you to spam skills more easily or potentially get a Whirlwind off while Cross Chop is on cooldown.

Yeah normally when fighting a boss it is on cd or if it isn't then I'm to busy try to focus on Power of the Wood Spirit, Will attack, Charge Chop/Beast attack combo to go check if i can use it.

Does anyone know what the actual names for the buffs given from will attack are? I'm trying to integrates that into my DIYCE, but when I used the names that come up while rolling over the buff icon when active it didn't work.

If you're going through the buff list, you can use the following to buffs for your triggers.
  • Solidified Will (Charged Chop)
  • Will of the Beast (Beast Chop)

FYI, I posted a simple DIYCE in the main thread.

I'm working at fixing some of the logic in it though.

That is nice. There are some things in there that I might use since I didn't know about those functions.

I tend to like to keep things minimal. I created my DIYCE script to make it easier to handle things when the buffs come up from Will Attack. I don't want it handling drinking potions, buffing me, etc since there are times I'd rather continue to spam attacks than wait a cooldown drinking a potion.

Mines setup up to use Beast Attack until I get the buff on my pet. I need to fix it so it takes into account if my pet is actually there. Currently it doesn't and just assumes it is there, so there are times it will do Beast Chop instead of Double Chop.

I might look back into adding slash into the rotation though. I haven't bothered with it too much yet.

Yea it takes awhile, but just kill a lot of mobs and it will get there. I used mostly 1h sword and talisman until I hit cap recently and got a Giant Tyda Axe, and I'm already up to 40 is a week. What I dislike is that you can level up 1h sword a lot more than 2h axe which hurts your accuracy a lot (in comparison).
