Deeprogue's Rogue/Scout Guide

Deeprogue's R/S Guide 21/5/12
(this is just a guide, and just my opinion)
Hey Guys this was my AUS rogue guide from a while ago, put in some new things and figured i'd repost it here so its a little more up to date. This guide is not for people that know the game well already obviously its for people who aren't sure what to do so they can get an idea of how to play a rogue, what gear to use, and the most effective ways to do this (imo). Anyway hope this guide helps you.

1. Leveling:
Rogues tend to level fairly quickly due to there high damage, while you levelling you should always try to keep your weapons up to date, because you wont have anything else that will really increase your dps, unless you dirty stat all your gear with dod stats. If you want to level quick be sure that you are always looking for high exp quests and quest chains rather then tracking back onto older quests which are skipable, this will slow you down. Another tip to levelling fast is to make sure that you level in coast of opportunity, the quests here are high exp, and will get you to level quite fast. Around level 55 you should start questing in Thunderoof hills, Be sure to make sure when you finish off Coast of Opportunity/Xaviera that you do Wc/Sl/Av Quests to 55 and if you have the patience 56, To avoid becoming quest Blocked. Also make sure when your level 48 Plus that you are doing your dailys everyday to maximize the chances of not running into xp/tp problems. These quest chains are the ones you want to follow specifically, every other quest is just bonus exp along the way, (Return of the glory/Envoy of the Dragons) which will take you all the way through to the final zone, Tergothen Bay.

2. Stating and gearing
Start off just using quest gear to level up until around level 55, around this time you will receive a blue bag that will contain 1 ring, 1 earring, 1 necklace, and all weapons and armour you will need. This bag is also given out at level 60 so your gear will be slightly better. With this gear you should be able to enter HOS, Hoto and Orign in a Group. If you get gear from any of these instances i would recommend dirty stating it with the fusion stones you can buy off a vendor or off other players via the Auction House, this will make you viable to run HODL/ZS to get your main sets until Grafu Hard Mode, Later using TOSH Hard Sets.

3. What Sets/Weapons to use

Armor:
Quest Set (Level 55 Entry Set)
Hos: Giant Fist
Hodl/Zs: Atrocity, (try and run hodl/zs daily until you can get full od of this set)
These Sets include: Chest/Boots/Shoulders/Helmet, i would advice to start with by using 3 Piece Atrocity (Chest, Boots, Helm), with Scout Unicorn Shoulders or Giant Fist, Butler Shoulders (level 65 Kampel Town Black Codex), Tosh Leather Shoulders (level 70 Out front Tosh Black Codex)

Gloves: (55) Giant Fist Gloves from Hos 2nd boss, (57) Bloodthirsty Gloves from 1st boss DOD, (58) Controllers Hands from 3rd boss WA, (60) Fang Hands form last boss RT NM/Lekani or Yawaka hands from last boss RT bronze plus, (62) Yinha Hide Gloves from KT 3rd Boss, (67) Murderous Hands from last boss SC easy, (70) Shints Leather Hands from 3rd Boss TOSH HM.

Belt: (55) Trashy Belts From Hos 4th and HODL 1st, (58) Controllers Belt form WA, (60) Lekani Belt from RT Silver Plus, (62) Yinha Belt 4th Boss KT or 420 Mems, (65) Vendor Belt in Kampel Town 490 Mems, (67) Sardo/Lanaik's/Murderous Belt All From SC, (70) Shints Leather Belt from Tosh HM 1st Boss.

Legs: (55) Strange Bug Legs (Orign 1st Boss)/Hos Vendor Legs 180 Mems, (60) Judges Legs (Crafted)/Lekani or Yawaka Legs, (70) Shints Leather Legs form Tosh Hard Mode.

Cape: (55) Hos Vendor Cape 180 Mems, (58) Arena Cape WA, (60) Savage Cape Pa/Acc 350 Mems, (60) Degenerate Cape from Blackstar, (62) Aoth Strike Cape from VN, (65) Ghostly Cape from GC HM, (70) Hero's Tomb Vendor Cape (Dex/Pa) 630 Mems.

Wings: You can obtain wings any time from the ruby shop and on sale in the diamonds shop every now and then, if your free to play you should be able to get these by using gold to buy rubies or diamonds. Make sure you stat these well so that you don't need to worry about restating them for a decent amount of time.

Daggers:
HOS: Aesi Dagger, Copy Soul Dagger

Dod: Venom Fang Dagger

Hodl/Zs: Peril Buster/Emerald Dagger, < These daggers are the best you can use until you obtain a Nem Blade/Jungle Hunting Thorn

Wa: Puppet Needle Dagger, this dagger can be a nice offhand but is not that great.

Level 60 Daggers
: 1. Nemesis Blade
: 2. Jungle Hunting Thorn (Rt NM 2nd Boss)
: 3. Thorn of Yawaka (RT Dia last boss)

Level 65 Daggers
: 1. Dur Craftsman Dagger (From Crafting event)
: 2. Performance Throwing Knife (GC NM 2nd Boss)
: 3. Blackswamp Blade (Level 65 Crafted)
: 4. Jugglers Throwing Knife (GC HM 6th Boss)

Level 70 Daggers
: 1. Dagger of Invasion (Level 70 Crafted)
: 2. Shints Secret Intelligence (TOSH Hm Last Boss)

4. What stats to use?
In my own opinion the best stats for a R/S are
3 x Dex/Pa
2x Stam/Pa
1x Pa/Hp

There is alot of speculation about what are the best and not the best stats to use as a R/S, so again like i said at the start of the forum post this is purely my opinion. Anyway my reason for using these stats is for the raw Physical Attack they give. I have used Both Heroic Precision and Aoth Strike set and the one thing i have noticed is that once you have a certain amount of dex you honestly dont need anymore (i would say tops 15k Unbuffed). Physical attack is more important because ROM higher end bosses (GC/SC/TOSH/Whatever+) have a physical attack cap. There is a cap you will need to reach so you can do sufficient dps without pa food (soft cap) and a cap that makes your physical attack scale next to nothing (hard cap) a hard cap can be x2/x3 of what the soft cap is and very few reach it so stacking attack is important.

5. DPS Rotation:
The Most Known Rotation as a Rogue is Shadowstab > Low Blow > Wound Attack.
This is a very basic and well known rotation, in larger groups some people choose to use blind spot, but ive found that blind spot bleed is somewhat broken when soloing.

6. Recommendations With Gear:

Armor:

Helm: Best: Lekani, 2nd Best: Barkuds, 3rd Best: Atrocity
Chest: Best: Lekani, 2nd Best: Barkuds, 3rd Best: Atrocity
Belt: Best: SC Belts (Murderous Preferably), 2nd Best: Lekani or Yawaka
Legs: Best: Shints, 2nd Best: Yawaka/Lekani
Shoulders: Best: Lekani, 2nd Best: Barkuds, 3rd Best: Tosh Vendor
Hands: Best: Shints, 2nd Best: Murderous, 3rd Best: Yawaka/Lekani
Boots: Best: Lekani, 2nd Best: Barkuds, 3rd Best: Atrocity
Cape: Best: Aoth Strike, 2nd Best: Tosh Vendor

^^ These are my opinions, As a rogue i rather use non rt sets because of the PA gain, crit is not a hard thing to make up, and there are plenty of things you can do to boost your crit rate (Informer, Crit Pots, Assasins Rage), these can all be spaced out over a longer fight too. 65% + crit rate is OK, 70% is what you really want to aim for.

Thanks For Reading, Hope this helps you get to endgame :)
