What happens when memento vendors start charging more than 3000 per item?

A simply increase in the cap I would assume, but the reason this is in the suggestion thread is because;

What if the game were to incorporate an exchange system for special currencies? i.e proofs, mems, energies, dreamland tokens, shells, honor points, and badges.

I think with the coming server merge there will be an overwhelming dis-proportion of proofs and energies. making it more difficult to pull gear and stats from these places, so I don't think a way to exchange these currencies for another would be a terrible idea.

Cike had told me already that this came up in the eu forums but was shut down, but still I think it should be incorporated.

As for what I think the exchange rates should be;

1.5k mems = 1 proof
6k honor points = 1 proof
1k energy = 1 proof
1k dreamland = 1 proof
500 shells = 1 proof
25 badges = 1 proof


and respectively,

1 mem = 4 honor points
2 mems = 1 energy
2 mems = 1 dreamland
3 mems = 1 shell
50 mems = 1 badge

6 honor points = 1 energy
12 honor points = 1 shell
12 honor points = 1 dreamland
240 honor points = 1 badge

2 energy = 1 shell
2 dreamland = 1 shell
40 energy = 1 badges

20 shells = 1 badge
20 dreamland = 1 badge

I think this would properly counter-act the soon to come obliteration of the proof currency that will come with the server merges. And maybe you folks have a better idea for what the exchange rates should be, perhaps they should be higher, maybe a little lower? Currently, I feel these rates are reasonable and shouldn't be lowered, raised maybe, but not by much if so.

i would like to see exchangable currencies as well tbh. if not soley for the fact that some BiS items can ONLY be obtained from certain currencies (some EoJ item for a bit, etc). if you don't farm those currencies, then ur SoL (have to buy one from some1 who does, etc).

I like the idea.

But i Also have a suggestion

Revamp memento items so people will farm momentos again.

Also if you give feasable stats from mem gear, people will farm mems again meaning more parties and more runs.

A lot of the reason people stopped farming instances is BECAUSE mem stats suck.

Make the stats and/or items from mems better liek the attack magic and physical, the damage food, the hp and healing food better
or enhance them and I can GAURENTEE people will farm isntances again. Especially for stats. Because as of since what? KBNH? mem stats have sucked.

Quit being lazy game designers. Make boss STRATS. make bosses do % AND direct damage. Make mem items give good stats.


THEN i'm all for it b/c simply right now we have no reason to need momentos.

I like the idea in general, thought 6k honor points for 2 proof is a bit low. I get 2k honor points a day from drill ground games (for the 2 decent ones), and I can do it pretty easily on quest geared alts that are as low level as lv 45.

And yeah, please fix instance and mento stats. Would be very nice to be able to pull nice stats from mentos again, and also int/matk in HM :P (I know, I know, they're in easy... but can't we get them in hard too please? Aside from mentos, mages don't get that much in terms of useful loot from HM since the best mage gear is from proofs)

@Gigi well, mentos are not entirely useless for accessories. lv 90 mento earrings are the best ones in game for physical and magical DPS, and the magical cape from mentos is also pretty much on par with the proof one (not sure about physical), as well as mento rings for physical DPS. Though point taken, would be nice if they were more useful.

Debatable.
Well, i guess the second part in brackets depends on how much you value crit vs wisdom and macc.
i guess I should add in Str/stam in there. We do get those, which, aside form the rare orange int/ma, is the only useful stat PvE wise.

I'd much prefer to see an overall reduction cost in the price of items purchased with Ancient Mementos'.

The current high-end stuff (3-5 zones worth?) should remain at it's price, but the stuff which is really vastly out of date could perhaps be halved in price, or perhaps thirded or quartered. Nothing should become too cheap, though, but it would be nice to see levelling players able to get gear and start statting it a bit more easily than at present. (Could even increase people's use of €, $ or £!)

This idea is very difficult for my mind to decide if it's good or bad. For example, is it good that if I only do siege I will be able to buy shells and mentos and poms? I'm not sure. With EoJs included, botters would be very happy with this. Guilds that run high instances would love this as well since they make so many more mentos at higher levels. But players who aren't EoJ botters and not so active farming instances would be at a disadvantage. Some players who make money by doing minigames and selling shell stats, they would suddenly have no income, although they would be able to get proof items. I'm starting to think it's a bad idea and the economy would get completely wrecked because of mentos being able to buy everything.

It's a better idea than an old one (I'm gonna need to find the thread) only suggesting that you can trade mems for poms. ;)

It's simply a pre-alpha idea to try and deter the oncoming slaughter that proofs will face with the server merges. There will be 6x less in the mix for the player base when 8 servers become 2.

Surely, being able to swap these currencies for one you don't have the ability to farm due to certain constraints isn't entirely bad. For instance, people who don't have the capability to siege or are playing on the eu servers could then farm memento's to turn in for their siege war titles.

I understand the problem with bots for energies, but surely putting more than 5 minutes of thought into the subject could easily find a way to stop bots from abusing energies.

Clearly those who are stronger are going to benefit more from all of the currencies, that's how the game works. Even with gold, diamonds, and rubies...

Shell stats would not lose their value, none of the currencies would lose their value past what it is now. If people need shell stats now they'll need shell stats tomorrow too. Simply allowing an exchange of shells for proofs does not make shells worthless. Instead allowing mementos to be turned in for shells alone makes mementos that much more valuable, let alone proofs.

And lastly, yes mementos would be the quickest way of gaining proofs in this system if you were able to farm grotto hard or higher. But again, the purpose is to mitigate the massive proof suffocation that will ensue, as well as make some reasonably worthless currencies worth a little more.

3 mems = 1 shell
So if you spend 5-10 minutes in a minigame you can obtain 90-150 mementos, I don't think that's a bad trade off.
And in return, if you spend 10-30 minutes in an instance you can trade your 150-300 mementos for the remaining shells you need to pull a stat. I don't think this is unreasonable, in this scenario I would still do the mini's I am doing today, and ontop of that I would be doing more instances.

Again, if you have any advice as to what you think would be more reasonable for ratio's please be my guest.

More people = more resources = more stats
However, in the case of proofs, it's the opposite. With mementos being -generally- worthless it would be a good way to make them -generally- useful.

I'm still not convinced that allowing a proper value conversion of special currencies would hurt the economy (and game) more than it would help it.

Well for the p-shell part, if you run 20 alts per day in them you get about 190 to 230 a day, so you can pull 20 stats every 2 days, pretty easy to do. I would love to see mem gear be better and drop better stats for sure and be cheaper too, but as been asked so many times before. Only thing i have bought from mems in the last 3 years are grassland/rage pots/codex pots for SW/ crafting mats and that's it, ain't gonna waste 1200 mems on UD useless gear.

As for the conversion on pom's, pom's are free to everyone to obtain in game twice a year and they make it easy for all. I buy honor points mats from players all the time at the rate of 1.5M gold for 4500 HP, which is fair to both sides. EOJ's requires a lot of time to do but still free to all to obtain with a little work, Papp Hesof would still be here and usable if people hadn't botted the hell out of it and get it rendered useless.

But we should be able to gift P-token shop items to others, that i would like to see done ;-)

but if you are talking about exchanging currencies for another in game, that would probably kill the stats trade for sure and lower people will have no way to really make gold to level up one day.

this doesn't kill the stat trade, it simply makes the method of obtaining stats more flexible. you're still not gonna pull the stats you want, and you'll still have to trade them.

i don't see how this effects lower level toons. they have MORE opportunities to make gold, for example, farming mems would have an actual return.

how long does this take? lets see...

assuming you do gobs with a party of 6, thats 3 runs of gobs per day. now you do the other minigames, and thats 20*15minutes per day per minigame(to get 190, you need to do two).

so thats just 10 hours of doing minigames. you do realize that is more than a full time job, right?

even at minimum wage($8/hour for 8 hours a day -> $64/day), you could buy approximately 3k dias(no dia sale) every 2 days if you put your entire paycheck into RoM. that means you have to sell your 20 stats for 15m per stat on average(using 100k gold/dia as conversion) to break even, otherwise you should just go get a job. since the fail rate for stats is >50%(75-50% from what i've seen), that means you will need to sell your "good" stats for 45m each.

if you are a savvy dia buyer and only buy on dia sales, this price doubles. you need to be selling for 30m/stat on average, good stats for 90m.

this is assuming you work minimum wage. if you work for any higher pay, then just go to work, buy dias, and then sell them. you'll get higher RoI...

since you are doing most of the minigames, that means you need to do dailies on each toon as well. even if you party them all up together, you still have to toggle through 20 screens to accept/turnin the quest alone each daily(no automation, remember?).

the only way i can see this as "easy" is if you bot it...


considering at this point you haven't even done any of the "fun" stuff the game has to offer like pvp or runs, you must be playing more than 12 hours a day (10 for dailies/minis, 1 for SW, 1 for pve/questing), every day.

i'd like to take this time to remind people this is a game, not a lifestyle.

Basically what Cike said. In what world is running 20 alts/day through every minigame "easy to do". Also, proofs twice a year are not enough. I'm in a guild that farms world bosses and I still don't get nearly enough stats. I can spend 500 proofs and not get every proof stat I need to restat my gear. Proofs are ridiculous and the dumbest currency ever introduced. /rantover.

Sorry, these are isolated incidents truly...

If you could list off even a remarkably small majority (10%) of the player base that runs more than 5 alts (i'll be conservative) I'd like to know.

Personally, I can hardly manage 1 alt. Let alone creating 20 separate e-mails and usernames and passwords... You couldn't ask me to write it down or remember it that's just not something I could do... my whole day would be spent doing chores.

Explain to me, how exchanging 1 special currency for another special currency would ruin the economy.

If you make 1 special currency that takes less time to get worth less to exchange for another special currency that takes more time to get, it's a fair trade.

If it takes the average person two or three days to get 1500 mementos, is that not worth 1 proof?
Getting 1000 energies in a day? No, 2 days? probably 3. For one proof
500 shells? 1 day? no. 2 days? no. 3 days. if you do a proper amount of mini's. For one proof.

This isn't wrecking the economy, it's simply adding another dynamic and allowing people to do the things they would more rather enjoy doing and spend their time that way instead.

This is allowing people more access to gear and stats so they don't have to regear or restat themselves 4-6 times over, saving them money and making the game more inviting to play.

Prove to me I'm wrong. Please, show me a graph and pie charts with some Venn diagrams.

Mamoony, all i am saying, pom's shouldn't be on that list. Gameforge should put world bosses back to 15 pom's upon kill plus they have to be on all 3 channels. Lower the cost of mem stuff by half since the fail rate is as worse as plussing jewels hahaha. Put an EOJ quest that is easy to do and make sure to check the logs of whoever would be tempted to bot it to get permaban, no second chances, no if's and but's GONE. I used to do Papp Hesof with Sointou, Kierr, Asphodelix etc on Reni and we would whisper each other when it was about to start, yes sometimes we could do it for 4 hours in a row, but we were always at our keyboards and getting the EOJ's.

Too many people are tempted by all those websites that advertise and show how to do stuff that is not intended in the game. Sadly people are just too lazy to play the game and i deserve this for free type of mentality. Then they complain they get banned lol.

Cike i was making a point, why didn't you just put an excel sheet in there too, btw you forgot time to go to the bathroom, eating, doing chores, naps ;-), my point was only that if you need stats, spend the time or spend the money, either way works for me.

Or if people could play nice and be less rude to the GM team, maybe they would be more inclined to do it more than twice a year. Never forget that there are players and human beings behind the TEAM, they have feelings too and god knows i wasn't always nice to them ;-( We all know the game is not perfect but which one is, everyone gotta admit a lot has improved in the last year and now the merge, OMG i can't wait to see new faces to play with, wait that sounded wrong, well you get my point loll.
