Large Alchemy Furnace

I have a Large Alchemy Furnace in my house. I have been away from the game for a while, and now it is not opening to allow me to work inside my house?
Has there been a change I am unaware of?

As far as I know, they never 'open'. You have to click K next to it, find your skill and set refining/production.
