cant get 3rd class choice/quest - johnny duntin

hi

a while back i clicked off the automated notice when i first login to my toon that says " you're now lvl 20/20 you can get your new class" or something to that effect lol...since then johnny duntin in the hall of wisdom does not have the quest for me to choose my 3rd class..how can i get this quest re activated?

While I don't play on Indigo, I do have some characters on other servers which fit the requirements to get their third class (20/20 or better on both original classes.) So, I logged onto one of them and went to the Hall of the Eye of Wisdom in Varanas. In both channels 1 & 2, Johnny Dutin did have the starting quest for getting a third class for that character.

I'll bring this to the attention of our IT staff, but I'd also like you to check and make sure that 1.) your character does qualify to gain a third class and 2.) you do have both your primary and secondary classes selected as being active when you go to talk to the NPC. It's possible that you didn't have the secondary class selected, which might disable your being able to get the starter quest.

He does not really give you third class. He has quest called 'The Price for Improvement: A Promise' and you should complete it by agreeing and being ready for 'powerful magic'. Once that is done, go to class hall and select new class, which in turn will move your secondary as third and add newly selected class as secondary.

sorry i didnt include that info in my original post...im a 70/70 warden/druid... i had both classes up and running when i talked
with johnny...

and RoMage johnny does not offer any quests to me when i talk to him..

if there is anymore info you need please let me know...i'll be checking this thread frequently today/tomorrow

I haven't heard back from IT about this yet, though there is something you can do for me.

Open your Map, and using the Setup button in the upper right corner of the map frame, make sure that "Hide Low Level Quests" is unchecked. Technically, the quest "The Price For Improvement: A Promise" is a low-level quest (50 levels below, heh.) Just humor me for the moment, and see if Johnny doesn't have a quest marker show up above his pointy little head.

Otherwise, RoMage is correct, you have to take and "complete" that quest. It requires talking to Johnny a second time and selecting "Give your word", or something similar. There is a cutscene, and the quest can then be completed. After that, go to the Class Hall and talk to the class instructor.

If he does not have a quest for you, most likely you have it completed.

Try just to pick another class in class hall.

What class are you trying to pick up?

did what u asked (already had the settings like that tho

) and johnny says " (He seems to lost in thoughts, you can just leave quietly... " ) i also switched to all the diff channels and tried "talking" to johnny several times...he doesn't "offer" any quests for me....never has....if he had had that quest option for me then i wouldnt be on here trying to figure this out lol

Did you try and go pick another class at the class hall? You have to only have one class selected to do that though, otherwise you can't pick the third class.

You can also check if you have done the quest by running,

	Source code
1	/run DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage(CheckQuest(424346))

And this will give you a 0 for undone, 1 for in progress and 2 for completed in your chat window. You can swap out the quest ID for any other for the same result.

thx that code gave me the number "2" so somehow it was completed when i know i didnt do it lol...but now i have another question...if i take this 3rd class will this prevent me from playing 1 of the new classes being introduced in chapter 5?

I'd imagine that the new classes will be Dwarf only, just as Warden and Druid are Elf only.

Though we would have to wait and see. If you could choose the new ones, you could still use a FoF.

Told you to try to get a new class from class instructor.
