First I am unable to access Osha, as in I know I am using the correct secondary pass
than Osha refuses to have its secondary password reset (I'M SERIOUS IT WILL NOT RESET!)
Than I get error messages when I transfer characters on Artemis (I might drop due to population being less than favorable to my profession and play style)
Now Reni is telling me something that says someone been trying to hack into my account..... (the you entered your secondary pass one too many times message)
there is at least something wrong with your server communications specially when in regards to the secondary pass reset command and other such things involving the secondary password.
I understand this is partly to stop hackers but there is a line where the help becomes hateful to the person that owns the account.
I will repeat Secondary passwords are a double edged sword NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT THEM they more often than not harm the owner of the account more then the hackers! do you seriously think a hacker serious about accessing an account needs passwords? I am tempted to laugh a little because form what I know of hackers they CAN and WILL use the secondary pass to lock the owner out of their own account (I have seen this happen before with other instances where this exact process is used.)
best defense is to make it not worth it, make your account not worth their time. Don't share your password with anyone STAFF INCLUDED! and avoid conflict where ever possible.
As has been the standard for you last few posts, it's a little hard to follow, albeit not as bad as others.
There is nothing wrong with the client/login server communication. If there was, there would be a 500 page thread about it affecting everyone.
Secondary passwords do help players more than they hurt. You might be locked out of your account because someone tried to access your account, fine, jump through a few hoops and you're back in. On the other hand, no secondary passwords, someone gains access to your account, strips it clean, you go back and forth with support asking for all your stuff back, they refuse, you quit. Which is the better option for both you and GF?
You give "hackers" too much credit for trying to break into player accounts. You do realize that most account access attempts are done by bots and there is very little if any real interaction by a human.
Using dictionary.com and finding the definition of a "hacker" you'll see the term isn't ONLY used to describe people trying to break into things. By definition, everyone here is a hacker.
[h=2]hack·er[/h] [hak-er]
noun 1. a person or thing that hacks.
2. Slang. a person who engages in an activity without talent or skill: weekend hackers on the golf course.
3. Computer Slang. a. a computer enthusiast.
b. a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems.
As for you last line, this has been standard security practice online for going on 20 years, you just learned this tidbit? Seems like somewhere you might have forgotten to tell us that you did indeed shared your password with someone. If I'm not mistaken I do believe letting someone else log into your account is a violation of the eula you agree to everytime you play.
